everything~joan.: Mini Milestones : Jasmine's 3rd month

Praise God for he has blessed our little Jasmine to be healthy chubby and cute. She's officially turned 3 months old. :) Thank you Holy Spirit for your protection over our family. :) We're still in one piece with this little addition. Many times we were challenged with little sleep, little patience when we were physically and mentally tired.. but we thank God we're still a happy family with a happy baby. :D

Here's some of my favourite exercises : Comparison of Jasmine wearing the same clothes, when she was a newborn vs when she's a more matured infant. :D

My mum commented on this picture : the first one her legs were like chicken legs, the second one, they looked like trotters. :P

She wore this blue top back home from hospital and that time this was the smallest baby clothes we have i.e. the most fitting clothes!

With this progress, she not just outgrow some of her newborn clothes, she also outgrown the newborn size diapers. She's officially wearing S size now. :D Both pictures below she was wearing newborn size diapers.

This month i.e. beginning of November, Jasmine has finally started to smile. :) This was her one morning before Joshua goes to work, she suddenly smile.... for quite a while!

She was in very good mood. She also started to recognise faces, like when she's being carried, she will look up to see who is carrying her.

Not just that, she started small baby talk too. She will be making sounds as if she's trying to talk to us.. which can be really entertaining and rewarding!

One morning, after I breastfeed her at about 3am or 4am, I discovered she had fever! We used our thermometer to test her temperature. It was 37.8 degree and Joshua said to see whether the temperature will drop by morning. We kept on checking and finally at 6am plus she was 38.1 degree. I read online that once they hit 38 degree we ought to send her to a doctor immediately. We quickly bathed and took her to the paedetrician in Columbia Asia hospital. Little did we know, it was Deepavali day and all clinics were closed. We had to go to emergency counter and a medical officer came to examine her.

Despite the fever, our girl was in very very good mood! :D Even the doctor say seeing her in good mood, meant the condition was not that severe. Just look at her cheeky face! :D

Doctor gave nose spray for her sensitive nose and paracetamol to bring down the fever.

While Joshua make payment and get the medicine, I breastfed her in a room. I was a very worried mum and was praying that I can pass the antibody to fight the fever through my milk to her. I was feeling so sorry.... that she had to go through her first fever at such young age. She just turned 2 months old. :( Just before we left the hospital, the medical officer told us that the specialist reverted over the phone that we will need to bring her back for check up if the fever doesn't come down in 3 days time.

So we went home, because it was Deepavali my mum & brother had just came from Muar. Timing was just nice.. because my mum was worried for Jasmine too! We wiped her clean (no water bath) and let her wear comfortable pyjamas. She just slept comfortably in my arms.

When she got hungry she would wake up crying, and I love to hear her cry! Because I'm just not use to a quiet Jasmine. :P

Here we are bottle training her despite the fever.... but we were of course more linean. She got the nipple right after this failed attempt. :P

This month, we had a mission i.e. to successfully bottle train her so that she will not starve when we send her to day care centre starting 25th November. Anne tried, Joshua tried, mummy tried.. everyone except for me so to avoid nipple confusion. :) I tried to be far away when they were bottle feeding... I could hear her cry and cry... rejecting bottle.. :(

Remember our first real test of bottle was when I went to do my brow embroidery and Joshua was home with her. When she got hungry, he gave her bottle and she refused to drink! She went on crying for 40 minutes until I got home. -_-

We tried many many times and concluded that we need to change teats to see if she will take bottle better. She's been crying everytime she sees bottle, even pushing away sometimes. :( Anne was the bottle expert, she would catch her when she's sleeping.. or kept on rocking her while walking to get her to suck a bit. The record - if she would take in 0.5oz would be like champion. Most times the milk would go to waste.. and then nipple to the rescue.

We finally gave up on the existing teat and decided to buy latex teat of the same brand - NUK so that the existing bottles we have won't go to waste. We were told latex teats are softer and more nipple-like and praise God she is much better with it! Finally! Took us about 3 weeks to finally see some good results! Yeay!

Anyway after the fever, we realised she had no more colic cries at night. God really ended her colic at 2 months old! However, she was going through an intensed crying phase. The worse one was she cried almost non stop without an obvious reason one Saturday.

I remember she was wearing a white top with a mushroom print on her chest. She cried so much it really put both Joshua and my patience to test! My mum heard her over the phone and got really worried too. She nagged me to bring her to see a doctor immediately because an infant shouldn't cry without reason, she must be unwell.

Joshua and I searched online for nearby paedetrician clinic nearby, Subang or USJ.... but not all are open on Saturday night.. we decided to just drive to Taipan. If we can find a clinic that's open, we'll go, if not we'll just go home. Just as we were giving up on Taipan, and wanting to try SS14... I saw a paedetrician clinic!! It was open.. later on we found out this clinic only open 6pm to 9pm everyday including Sunday & public holiday. Anyway, doctor examined her and said nothing seems to be wrong. The crying could be just her personality. @.@ And if we're terribly worried we can send her to SJMC for a stomach scan. He wrote us a letter and that's it. RM90. @.@ My mum said paying RM90 for peace of mind was worthwhile...

So Joshua and I went for dinner at Strawberry Fields... and Jasmine finally was asleep. I held her in my arms all the time and just ate with one hand.

This was her most peaceful sleep the whole day....
Thankfully this was the worse... she got better after this...still cries but manageable.

She seemed to cry almost after every feeding. What will comfort her was to hold her over my shoulder to burp her and rock her a little... weird.. until now I had no explanation for the behaviour.

Sometimes she would grab and pull my hair!! :(

Sometimes I can't put her down.. I had to let her sleep on me otherwise she will cry again, so Anne will help me, let me eat like this.. haha..

So thankful I have Anne. Hehe.

We took her out shopping a few times. Mostly to Subang Parade, with or without Joshua. :P We layered her up so she feels cosy and could sleep better. :)

She loves sleeping when we're out. ;)

We used the stroller so frequent I feel bad if I don't buy it from my colleague... there are some dents and scratches here and there already...

My mum had started to online shop for baby clothes which got me worried. I started to go through all Jasmine's clothes and did a few fashion parade with her to know which can be worn at this stage. :P Surprisingly quite a lot! Our friends really gave us quite some pretty clothes!

The pants is a bit too low cut and tight though...

Jasmine was not happy so I had to carry her to calm her down. Look at her folded fats. Haha.

These are the dresses she could wear now. From top, given by church friend Allison Wong, bought from Melbourne thrift shop by Jessica Kong, bought from San Francisco thrift shop by Anne, blue top from Melbourne thrift shop by us, and lastly polka dot top bought from San Francisco thrift shop by Anne.

This white dress was given by Pei Xuan. :D Came with the headband. I didn't know how to let her wear headband so that explains why she look like a sushi master here. :P We were planning to let Jasmine wear this white dress to Sharon (Evelyn's sister)'s wedding in mid January, but grandma was not quite happy with it. -_-

I started to dress my girl up when we go out. Getting her to wear all her clothes while she can still fit in! :D I realised she had some sleeveless clothes, so I let her wear cardigan over it. :D

Nobvember 8th to 12th, Joshua went on company trip to Taiwan.

And so myself and Anne went back to Muar together with Jasmine. :) Total of 5 days and my mum "took leave" to stay home to spend time with us, or maybe just Jasmine. Haha.

We dropped Joshua to the airport and went straight to Muar. Jasmine slept very well throughout... only woke up for milk once, when we were almost reaching home.

What greeted us were these... a cosy nook for Jasmine's nap time.

Specially purchased online by grandma - organic cleanser, moisturiser, massage oil and shampoo... and wet wipes..

Diaper pants! So expensive yet impractical. -_- My mum must be sales girl's favourite target!

Jasmine immediately tested the changing table. My mum improvised old pillow cases, inside was towel and bolster case = " changing mat" :) I think she's brilliant!

But a water proof mat is still very important...

Grandma won't even let her sleep in stroller, when we go for lunch. She ate with one hand...

Our brother was away for an event so it's 4 girls outing. ;)

My mum bought this outfit online and admitted that it looked much nicer in the picture. :( It was about RM50!

We think Jasmine looks cute in it, but grandma thinks it's not good enough and insisted that I shall not let her wear this again. -_-

It was Saturday, we went out to office because my mum had to see a client. Grandma still want to carry Jasmine even in a car ride, she refused to strap her to the car seat. Short distance is fine but longer ride I will insist. ;)

The air con was on, so the hat was just nice to keep her head warm.

And there you go, pillows surrounding her again. ;)

This is a busy corner in office. Full of childhood memories and now my child is part of it too. :D

Back at home, watching movie... and Jasmine was sleeping on grandma...

My mum said Jasmine found herself comfortable in this position.... :D so super cute.

We seen her in this position most times.... hahaha...

Bath time! Again, bathing her in a plastic toyogo drawer. :) That's grandma splashing water to teach Jasmine how to play with water. :)

Grandma loves to carry Jasmine like this! Either with a towel or blanket.

She doesn't feel insecure at all. :D

Grandma likes to tickle her after bath and sometimes she will smile. :)

We arranged to facetime with my grandma, Jasmine's great grandma. :) Finally introduced Jasmine to my Ah Ma!

Thank God for technology, facetime is really convenient.

We joked that Jasmine has the best treatment when she's in Muar, because everyone especially grandma and uncle.. can't wait to carry her and entertain her.

She's quite spoilt. :)

We were again in office, just before driving back to Subang. I was doing some stuff on my laptop while Jasmine was sleeping. Where's she?

Right here. :D I wrapped her up so keep her warm and cosy. Hehe. :P

We went for assam fish lunch again and sat at a corner, because we know Jasmine might be hungry anytime. True enough she got hungry just after I finish eating, I used the nursing shawl. ;) After that, Anne helped to burp.

This girl looked soooo cute all of us were amused!

Reluctantly.. grandma says goodbye to Jasmine before we take off.

You may notice she changed..... she's wearing pink in the car.

yes because she pooped a big one before we hit the highway so I had to change her in the car. It was so difficult but I'm glad we made it. :D

When we got home, we realised there were severe leaking in the masterbedroom which had wet the laminated floor and also destroyed some parts of the ikea chest drawer which was used as Jasmine's changing table. :( This one.

I was very stressed out and was busy wiping the floor and chest drawer dry to prevent further damage..... Jasmine was crying non stop to which both Anne and I got impatient with her and lightly hit her on her bum hoping to stop her from crying. When I hit, she cried even louder. When Anne did, she stopped. @.@ Anyway.. we had to rearranged the furnitures in the room so that the leak can be repaired first. Sigh....

Joshua was finally back, but was welcomed by the leaking ceiling in masterbedroom. We had Jasmine's baby cot right at the foot of our bed. :)

We realised she has grown longer and able to kick further away... sometimes touching the side of the cot already. So we started to put her to sleep on the longer side of the baby cot.

Suddenly, feel that our girl has grown up so much. :)

We also decided that Jasmine is now too long to sleep on the sofa in the living room. So now we have transferred her to the rocker. :)

It is so convenient we can rock her with our legs while we do other things.

In Muar we also discovered Jasmine had crossed eye!! Although she looked funny and cute, I was worried! What I did was whenever I saw her doing it, I forced her to close her eye in order to encourage her to realign her eye balls. And kept on telling her not to do it. Thank God she stopped. Phew.

I also discovered very fine baby hair on the dimple pillow we put in her car seat, which really proved that she was indeed dropping her birth hair. :)

One morning after bathing her, we find her really cute in her bunny towel and so Joshua took some photos. :D She looks so chubby.

Someone was in good mood. ;)

Thank God we still had fun, when our masterbedroom was still in a mess. Haha..

We started to use the baby body carrier too. It is such an important item to own!

We used it when we go to Little Whiz in Setia Alam to buy car seat. :)

We need a second car seat for Joshua's car because when I start work, Joshua will drop her at day care and I will pick her up after work.

This carrier is very very convenient if it's just for a shorter period... can't use it for too long because it will hurt our back.. or waist. :)

Second time using when Anne and I went groceries shopping. By the end of it, my back was already hurting.

This also keeps Jasmine asleep most time..

She feels very secured and warm in it. So not that suitable if going to non air conditioned place. ;)

Here's our new car seat. UK brand Joie, RM600. We planned to buy local brand which could be only RM300 but in the end was convinced that UK brand has better safety features, all have passed the safety regulations in the country. Now I understand parents always wants the best for the children. :)

Tested out her ferrari seat on Sunday. :D

We took her to Klinik Kesihatan for 2nd month vaccination on 18 November. I was told to remove everything including her diaper before putting her on the weighing scale. The scale looks soooooo dirty I tried to put the napkin at the bottom as base but that was also disallowed. :( :(

Anyway she weighed 4.7kg and was in very good mood again. I changed her into a new diaper and lined up for the vaccination.

She started crying before they poked the needle into her thigh. I suspect she was already hungry. Overall a good experience at Klinik Kesihatan, we went early to register so we didn't have to wait long for our turn.

The following Saturday, we took her to the Klinik Kanak Kanak Gan at SS15 for rotavirus vaccination which was taken orally. She was in bad mood that time and cried quite a bit. She weighed 5kg! Then the following Saturday we took her back for Pneumococcal vaccination. She cried but only for a while. :)

Dr Yap there also told us to stop putting mittens and booties on her, so she can start to discover her touch senses.

The weekend before she starts going to the Sunnyside daycare, my mum and brother came again. :)

Any excuse to come to see the cutie pie. :D

Then my brother decided to join in the fun. Jasmine was so cool next to us. :D

We all hope she will adapt well at daycare and be well taken care of.

Because she's our precious. :) Everyone's precious.

This was Sunday when I was in church, she's at home with grandma. Really manja....

And no problem taking milk from bottle!! Yeay!! Bravo my girl!!

On the 25th November, we started sending her to the Sunnyside Daycare Centre. I only start work the next day, so 25th is just a trial day, just in case she needs me, I can be there. :)
She woke up in a very very good mood.

Finally the emotional time has come... imagine everyday since she's born I've been there for her. Now I have to entrust her to some strangers. :( I was definitely crying like a baby!

I let her hold on to the little elephant my mum has bought for her.. really hope that she won't cry for mummy at the daycare centre. :(

Arrived and slowly making our way there.... even more emo...

I forced myself to smile but I actually wanted to cry.

We passed her to the caretaker... she puts her in the cot straight away while sorting out her clothes, diapers etc..

Here's the infant room. She'll be here for 9 hours everyday.

Time to say goodbye! And here comes my tears!

I didn't expect myself to be this emotional!!

Separation is tough!!

I miss her terribly!!

But I have to learn to let go..... and I thank God I have Anne with me at home..

She took me to my dental appointment.. and then I went to do facial at Blunis Subang Parade
Before facial, I pumped milk and look at my record output!! 4.5oz each breast!! I must've missed Jasmine too much my body hormone has helped produce so much milk! :D

At 4.30pm we went to pick her up. So this will be my everyday, picking her up after work and spending quality time at night before or after dinner... then put her to sleep. :( Missing out so much hours in between. Sigh...

By the way, on Jasmine's first day she didn't cry much at day care because someone wasn't feeling well....
She pooped 3 times on her first day drinking 2 oz of milk. I was told she refused to drink frozen milk and I only gave them 1oz refrigerated milk, the other 1oz was borrowed from another mother. 2oz in 9 hours is very little. We decided to monitor her second day.... she pooped 7 times drinking 6 oz of milk. It was undeniably diarrhea!

:( I was worried again.. my poor girl... we went to see Dr Yap, thank God he opens till 9pm and is iin SS15.

He said Jasmine could've gotten diarrhea from someone who carried her during the weekend, either Joshua or Anne. For adult could just be one morning but the same virus on infant could last 2 days.

Jasmine still had moisturised lips and still want to be breastfed.. so is not that severe. He gave fever and stomach wind medicine which we only gave her a little and that's it.

Thank God 3rd day onwards she got better. I was so happy to hear from the caretaker that "Jasmine is more cranky today" :D because we all know that's her true self. Our Jasmine was finally back, haha..

This month I felt that we dont have much photos taken with Jasmine so we tried to take photos whenever we remember...

We also started to read story books to her. She's not always in focus but still a good start. :D

I also started playing kids song to her on my iphone, from youtube. The first 2 songs of the album would be "five little monkeys jumping on the bed" and "Bingo the farmer's dog".

Joshua also did quite some horse riding exercise with her, Michael Jackson dance etc. We recorded quite some videos!

We brought her to Homes and our hommies love her too!

We went back to Mandarin service because Joshua was scheduled to serve in Mandarin service. Many friends came to say hi to Jasmine too. :)

We had lunch with Boon Wei & Doughlas, and their 2 sons - Cohen and Micah. Micah is only a month older than Jasmine and he's such a handsome boy don't you think! :D

It was always not an easy task to get her to sleep at night... and my mum discovered this. She always seemed to need to grab on to something in order to feel secure then only she can slowly sleep.. Here she grabs my t-shirt with her left hand...

And here's her right hand, also grabbing my t-shirt.

So this was her optimum position to fall asleep. We just need to keep on rocking and rocking until she closes her eyes.. and eventually drop her grip on my t-shirt then we know she has fallen into deep sleep. ;)

Later on she started aggressively looking for things to suck every night... I had to feed her half hourly which made us think she's not hungry, she just needed the comfort or security. She would be sucking our t-shirt, our finger or our arm... or her own hand! So Joshua decided to start introducing pacifier to her and finally was successful. We bought Nuk latex pacifier which is the same as the teat she's taking.

On 28th November, I turned 29 years old. :)

Joshua bought some simple cakes and we had a really simple celebration.

I wonder when Jasmine will get excited about blowing candles?

God, thank you so much for us. :D

One day Shwu Chyi suddenly send me photos of our Jasmine when she was only 1 or 2 weeks old. Shwu Chyi took these photos when she came to visit us and forgot to share with me until November. It's nostalgic to see Jasmine so small and tiny.. she was smiling in this photo, priceless.
