Mini Milestones : Jasper's 11th month

Jasper's going to be 1 year old soon. @.@ So fast....when he was a newborn, I thought ok I have ample time to introduce flashcards to this guy, sing all the kids song, teach him all the hand moves, fly kisses and hear him giggle. But 11 months just flew me by, and I can't say I have done what I planned. Maybe only 50%? or less. I tried but I wasn't consistent... and so many things can get in the way. I still recall holding him singing "I love you Jesus, deep down in my heart..." and dropped him a little at the word "down" he loves it and even when I'm not holding him and he hears this song, he laughs! Today, he doesn't laugh at the same thing anymore. He is also over the twinkle little star hands, he stop saying mah mah, he has started climbing up cabinets. He used to try to put pacifier into his mouth himself but found it hard to aim right into the mouth. Now, he can do it even in between sleep, or morning when Joshua's having it, he can grab and put straight into his mouth and continue his sleep. @.@ His advancements are much faster than Jasmine and I felt a little caught off guard. But I guess, I prefer my boy to be like this, than the passive quiet type! :)

He is definitely trying to walk. Early in the month, he started taking small steps to the side, by holding on to the brown chair (my nursing chair) in the skyroom. He also hold on to small white stools in living room and push, when the stool moves, he follows. So he's taking steps forward. The stool works a little like baby walker. He has taken steps while holding on to the sofa or something like the small stools in living room.

He stood without support for half second? We couldn't capture in our phone though. A week later he even started swinging hands while standing.

3rd Oct, we were in Sunway Lagoon.

Went to the big pool with wave thing. We dressed him in his swim wear and dipped him into the water.

He loves it! He kept splashing the water and Jasmine initially didn't like the wave, but Jasper had managed to calm her down. :)

He then settled for a nap.
And got up for lunch. After lunch we went to the petting zoo, where he wanted to crawl on the floor.

And we had quite some fun bothering him with Jasmine's pink cap. :)

Both kids are playing more together. Jasper likes to follow along, like screaming. Once Jasmine starts, Jasper will follow.

One day he refused to sleep in the afternoon and at night until 11pm. I had to leave him crawling in the master bedroom while I do my stuffs. He attempted to chew on the old door rubber that was screwed onto the wall since before we renovated the house. He then hit his mouth hard on it (head against the wall as well) and cried with mouth bleeding. I quickly carried him to check where bleeding came from, looks like it's the inner mouth that got a bit of cut from the old door guard that had layers & layers of paint over it... those flaky paint definitely cut through his baby mouth a bit but thank God is not serious. He looked really pitiful, so I let him chew on the yellow handkerchief which I used to wipe his mouth. He was thrilled, I guess his gum must be really itchy. So it took him at least another 20 minutes before he finally drank milk and sleep.

Jasper learnt how to clap hand on his own, without us encouraging it. In the car when we are singing songs, he claps on his own, enjoying the songs. :)

We are going to Taiwan, so I tried to train him to wear hat. He's much more persistent than Jasmine in removing the hat. @.@

6th October, he was still doing mostly army crawls until this day, this fine fine day, Lian said he's on his 4s the whole time at her place. Well done boy! No more mopping floor! :)

We send Jasmine for 2 swim classes, RM50 per class.

Second class we took Jasper along and changed him into his swimwear. He was happily splashing water and the teacher even took him on for a little float.

Too bad the swim classes didn't continue because Daniel & Jade pulled out. Their Sonya refused to enter the pool both times. We are definitely waiting for Jasper to be older before really exposing him more into the pool.

I know that Jasper will be walking soon, so I must buy a pair of walking shoes for him. I tried Attipas on Lazada while waiting for Stride Rite's year end sales. Bought XL size and regret big time. First, size too big. Jasmine could wear it easily. Second, design for boys are quite ugly. So I returned and gotten refund. This time, I measured his feet again - 11cm length and 5.5cm width. I looked on Carousell and everywhere else that sells second hand stuffs, for a pair of nice stride rite shoes. We let Jasper try on Jasmine's first stride rite, which was of size US4.5M, he fitted in just nice, without much room to grow. So Jasper is definitely bigger in size compared to Jasmine. I'm thinking maybe US5.5? or US6.0 for him?

During meal times, if he's done eating and we are not yet done. He gets restless despite all the toys we could give him. All will end up on the floor. Our secret weapon is the baby bites. He could feed himself the pieces of baby bites we pass to him. :) That occupies him for a good amount of time, for us to finish up our food. I tried to give him one piece of Farley as well, because we have too much Farley left... I tried twice, he can feed himself but because it's too big it will end up in his chair or on the floor too, and messier than baby bites.

Jasmine likes to feed him porridge and he will eat without issue. :) One of his positive responses when siting on the high chair, was to hit the table hard and loud.

Our morning routine on weekdays. Most ideal is when he is still asleep and Joshua will bring him down to the living room and then into the car seat.

In the car seat, he usually will wake up but once the car starts moving he will fall back to sleep again.

Not so ideal is when he woke up middle of night too frequent and I had to take him to our bed to feed and let him fall asleep between us.
He sleeps quite easily as long as he has drank enough.
Not that ideal is when he become wide awake before I could even hop in for a shower. He will cry when I come out from shower and then bother me with this cute face when I try to get ready for work.

If it's weekend, not ideal when he wakes up early while I was hoping I can sleep a little bit more.
We try to sleep while keeping him entertained, including chewing on the remote controller.
Or when I surrender and eventually wake up to entertain him. :)

In the car, he is rear facing still in both cars. One day I had to use the Forte to fetch them back, he actually leaned forward (seat belt is too loose) and managed to reach the mirror that was already hanging downward, and pull out the paper at the back (for the double sided tape that came with it but we never use) and started eating. Jasmine alerted me by telling me didi is eating something. So I stopped at petrol station to pump petrol and managed to remove some paper from his mouth.

14th October, he fell on the back of his head twice. Once was upstairs during noon, from the floor mattress he lose balance and fell backwards. This one is mild but hard enough to get him crying. Then evening, downstairs I had left laundry basket filled with folded clothes on the staircase. He was interested in it, climbed up 2 steps to reach it, when he does his usual thing to throw himself on his bum after he's too tired of standing, he most likely landed on the edge of the step and fell straight on the concrete floor... at the back of his head. I was at upper landing when this happened, it must've been really painful!! I feel bad I couldn't stop it. He cried for quite long and I think there was a bump on his head... although not obvious.

15 October, we took him to the playground.. he tried to climb up the slide. This again took us all by surprise. @.@
We also went to the SS12 playground, but I ergo carried him because he does seem to be a little sleepy..
And fell asleep when we were taking group photo with the Khoos. :)

This month he had running nose too. Watery and blocked nose caused him to be miserable.

19-20th October, poor boy was down with fever at 38.5 degrees. We tried sponging and also fed him fever medicine. Towards the end when he was slowly recovering, our thermometer broke. -_- Most likely is battery needs replacement.

24th October, this is a month full of falls. Twice on back of his head middle of the month, and one week later... in skyroom, when he was doing his normal pre-bedtime crawls around... there was a bunch of chinese story books that I just bought second hand from a mother in Kota Kemuning... Jasper landed his hand on one of it, and because it's slippery (due to being wrapped), it caused him to slip forward and fell straight on his face!! He immediately cried! I carried him to comfort him and thought there's nothing major... until he toss and turn, and I saw BLOOD!!! I checked again and confirmed blood came from his mouth!! We quickly took a small white wet towel to wipe his mouth and there was quite some blood! Jasmine had never had this kind of accident before so we were definitely freaking out. Joshua posted the bloody towel picture on Borak Whatsapp group and asked whether any of their kid fell the same, whether we need to send him for dental check to ensure his teeth are alright? Jessica Kong said her Asher had worse fall and broke his front teeth, and our bleeding towel is actually quite minor. Phew!! So I fed Jasper milk and nursed him to sleep in my arms. When he was awake he refused to allow us a peep into his upper gum so we waited till he fall asleep... we flip his upper lip and with the help of spotlight, saw that his gums were quite sore, the bleeding definitely came from there.

The whole night in my sleep, I wasn't fully sleeping, I was thinking and reviewing the whole incident. I felt the picture of Jasper's gum doesn't look normal to me, to a certain extent. So I woke at around 6am.. and googled the word "lip tie" and confirmed that Jasper has a lip tie. I had seem a lip tie picture on Facebook early this year and never have thought that Jasper has one. No wonder his front teeth are always harder to be seen! Man, we are worried... he had the tongue tie snipped off at 4 days old, that's easy. But now he is 11th month old, so strong and so against people opening his mouth, how will the doctor carry out the tongue tie correction procedure? Sedate him?
We asked on Borak again and led me to discover that Yee See's brother is a dentist, so I asked her to get his opinion. Confirmed it's a tongue tie, called low frenum attachment, and actually if doesn't affect eating / speaking, basically no need to do anything to it until permanent teeth growing at around 9-12yo (whether the 2 front teeth has gaps). He proposed that we go to Dr. Yap at Sunway for a check up. So we did.

Jasper is quite into chewing on zips or metal or aluminium this month.
Doctor confirmed the same advice so we didn't do anything. Our concern is his milk teeth also seem to be showing some gap, Dr Yap said it's in fact better because it's easier for permanent teeth to replace them.

26th October, Joshua put Jasper down standing. He stood for quite a while before he sit down. His stand is getting more firm & steady, I believe he will advance much more in walking in the coming month. Shoes shoes shoes, need to get the shoes.

Suddenly, we realised, Jasper is not chewing on the door stopper anymore! Don't know since when he stopped the door stopper pursue, thank God! :D

Bedtime routine. Jasper will have 1 round of milk and then he will do his crawls around the room.
When drinking milk Jasmine will come kiss his hands, as usual. :)

Other than crawls, he does his baby walks too.

And playing with all the books. Throwing on the floor, chew it or flip the pages.
He needs his pacifier. Without it he will complain a lot.

This adventurous boy also enjoys playing on Jasmine's bed, stand on the bolster holding on to the wooden cabinet and then throws himself backward to fall on the mattress and giggles. We usually have to watch closely because it's possible that if he doesn't throw himself the right angle, he might end up knocking either his chin/mouth/teeth/nose against the edge of the wooden cabinet. -_- So much to worry for this adventurous little man. May God protect you ok Jasper? Protect you even when we can miss out the chances of fall or chances of injury... :) Amen.

Every morning when I drop them off at Lian's. If I take Jasper down first, he will cry for me while I head out to bring Jasmine in. He will wait for me to come in, to take over and feed him milk.
I will definitely miss this precious moments.
I often leave Lian's house at 8.40am and reaches office at 9am but I'm not sorry for being late, because I really love cuddling my kids and say a nice goodbye.

Evening, I try my best to leave before 6pm, so I can take them home asap. Most times when I arrive he will be eating his dinner. He will be sweating and this time I gave him a dragon ball hair style. :)
Usually Jasper will have a little nap in the car. Once we reach home, he cries when I put him down on the playmat and head out to unload the car. We will head straight into dinner... and then the playtime before bath. :)

He loves to play with Jasmine's toys. This is also one of his walker.

And he loves the guitar too. Generally he loves music. He will shake his body whenever we sing or when we play songs.
Jasmine's sunglasses. :)

Those toys at the last shelf are all specially for him, but he only go for some specific ones. And start attacking the books. He's torn some pages of certain books but those are not really good books so I'm not so bothered.

He loves this bike too. Sometimes I want him to just stay at the living room instead of climbing up the dining area or kitchen, I push this bike to the middle of living room and it can occupy him quite some time.

He chews on Jasmine's toys and often got her upset.

And when he makes this kind of face, it's time to go upstairs..

He loves this ball. When Joshua gave him this ball, he couldn't stop going after it and shout at the ball when the ball rolls away.
And he refuse to let go. If you take it away, he cries.

This happens on Monday. The after meal before bed playtime happens in our room while the maids are cleaning downstairs. I was sitting on the yellow stool, expressing milk.
They both will be soaked in sweat because our room is quite hot and they ran around a lot more.
There he is chewing on Joshua's belt, the metal part.

Weekend nap times are usually quite challenging, because it's slightly different from the nap times at Lian's. Although I tried to mimic it but can't be 100%.
So when I see him soundly asleep, it's a success.

Sleeping babies are the loveliest... so this midnight sleep picture also became priceless. :) I don't usually wake up to sleeping baby these days is mostly a whiny baby sitting up waiting for me to tend to him.

Morning naps on Sundays. Joshua usually is the one to put him down for Sunday morning naps.
Beginning of worship, he will be excited about the music.
Then he will doze off by 2nd or 3rd song.
Rare times when I'm out from Acts Kids he is still awake.

Bath time! I have to give myself reminders to take more bath time pics. Usually when this happens, Jasmine will be waiting for her turn, Joshua is not home. Or Joshua will be playing with Jasmine.
This one here is when Joshua took on the bath duty. And the naked baby wants to play the "falling backwards" game on Jasmine's bed.

I took him & Jasmine to Gula Cakery once to meet with Jessica & Jerome & Jude. He crawled around quietly.. but put quite some random things into his mouth eg. some aluminium paper, buttons, synthetic grass.
We went back to Muar and he got some new clothes from Ah Ma. :)
This is a rare time we could have a peep at all his teeth when he smiles.
He has 4 on upper gum and 2 on lower gum.
Joshua has started giving him shoulder rides. In fact, I tried once too but dare to do it again because I am not confident that I can catch a falling 9kg boy.
Bath time in Muar by Ah Ma.
Crawls in Muar kitchen.

Under close supervision by Ah Ma.

We brought the booster seat back so we don't have to pack the bulky ikea high chair.

I rearranged our living room furnitures and finally could have more play space!
Now the kids have more direct access to the trofast bins and more space to crawl around and play and run.
Jasper is able to reach for the bin.....
And throw it on the floor.

The lower bins are M- music toys, A- art toys, R - roleplay toys, B - building toys.
This one here is box B - cups for stacking, blocks etc.
The white stools are to be placed next to the 2 and 1 seater sofa so that we can rest our feet when we sit on the sofa.
Or use as mini table for plays.

Weekend breakfast. :) Best Saturdays are the ones we don't need to rush off anywhere and we have plans for the kids in the evening.

Once we took him to Aeon big for groceries shopping and I decided to use the ergo carrier. Thank God I made the right choice because he really was whiny and fell asleep before we finish shopping.
When we go to Citta Mall, we usually uses the double stroller. He is now enjoying the double stroller ride! He bounces in his seat when being pushed around. :) Like a mini train ride.

This month we met with Ken & Joy's cluster for dinner at Black Canyon before prayer service. And Jasper was served by the ladies Odelia and Dora. Fed him biscuits and water.

We had more outings with Kara this month. Like this one where we met at the SJMC lake to feed bread to the fishes in the lake. At the end of it, I impromptu took out the blanket to set out a picnic for the kids.
I took the Dr Seuss books for Jasmine to show Kara.

This is another time where we purposely take Jasmine to play at Kara's house. Jasper also play and he loves this hat. He keeps on shouting holding to the hat and spinning round and round.

We also took him along to view Court 10's new flooring. It was laminated wood and parquet and I discovered it being very damp when we met the tenants to sign agreement. I decided to change it to concrete tiles. With our awesome agent Sofia's help, we managed to get it done in a week.
Who knows, maybe in 20 years from now, we will be selling off this Court 10 property to fund Jasper's studies? :)

We have not done this enough, to snap photos of our daily time spent with kids. It's only few hours at night before they hit the sack.. but it's still precious. :)

Jasper is very clingy to me. I like it and don't like it. You know what I mean. I will definitely miss him being so manja but at the same time, I wish I can put him down without hearing him cry as I walk away.

He still picks up small things on the floor and puts into his mouth. Whenever we try to remove the items we suspect he's chewing, we often get bitten badly. This guy can really bite, no joke.

And he loves the tickle game with Joshua, just like Jasmine.

See?

Best picture this month - both kids were smiling sweetly.
When Joshua posted this picture on Facebook, people talked about how difficult it is to make both smile at same time and capture it. I leaked out that Joshua was actually holding a metal plate on left hand and repeatedly hit his head with it to make the sound that attracts Jasper & made him laugh / smile so handsomely. :) And Jasmine was just a natural holding her didi and smile broadly. :)

Today is actually my birthday... but I see it as just another day... working on my important personal goals, which is never to miss out monthly updates for my precious kids. :) So glad I managed to write another one for Jasper!! Can't believe it's been 11 months! And next month, will be his birthday! @.@
