My mum and brother, they are real movie freaks, esp. my mum. She can spent one whole weekend in front of TV, just watching DVDs, or watch news, malay black & white movies, anything. So many times she fell asleep on the couch until the next morning. When it's just my brother and her, my brother will give up and go up to his room while my mum will continue watching.. although she dozes off, she will claim that she's still watching.
Whenever I am back, I will not go to sleep until i managed to switch her tv off and get her to bed. In her bedroom, there's another small mini tv.. she will continue with the small one when she gets to the bedroom... -_- I sleep on the same bed as my mum. I will nag her to go to sleeeeep, threaten her that I am switching her tv off. When morning arrives, she can still be the 1st one to wake up? At about 6.30am she will be up. How much sleep did she have? All the more i need to get her to sleep early. Sleep is essential !
Just drove back to Muar on my own the past weekend. This time, it was on Saturday night that they stick their butts to the couch again. From late noon.. until the sky turns dark. Usually if i get tired of the movie marathon, I will go to the kitchen do my readings, or sewings. This time i did my sewing in front of the TV. Hehe. While watching I could do my own things. The movies are not really good.. like "Kick Ass" i think it is a very unrealistic movie. I even had to drive out to buy dinner for them at 9pm. Needless to say, they banned my proposal to eat the dining table, they ate in front of the TV. :( Usually family weekends involves cooking and chit-chatting right.. my family weekends, is none other than - MOVIES. I mean MovieSSSSSSS.
Remember visiting the DVD store with my brother on Saturday morning. The DVD store owners' eyes sparkles when he spotted my brother in the crowd. His big big big client. In like 10 minutes, he recommend this recommend that, take this take that, when my brother make payment for the DVDs he bought.. is RM70. :S My mum said sometimes he can spend up to RM200 !! And that still my mum complains that she has watched all the movies at home and she needs some new shows. I am here scratching my head, not on the large spending, well this their hobby, they've worked hard, I think it is ok to spend, but I am worrying on the storage of the DVDs at home !
Imagine the mountain of DVDs... I can easily open a DVD rent store, like the old times when we are still watcing video tapes. :)
Speaking about video tapes............ I remember those days, my daddy will pick up the chinese series by series from the rent store, in a few bags, 20 tapes, 30 tapes. My childhood... is also very much related to movies. Haha. I still recall, all 5 of us in living room, sleeping on the carpet with pillows and blankets, with air-con on.. movie marathon again.. on weekdays & weekends. I remember a few times I was awaken by the sound "zraaa zraaa zrraaa..." from the TV, the tape has finished playing and all of us were soundly asleep, no one was watching anymore, TV still on, with the grey, black & white screen. I would get up to switch off the TV. Well, that's usually how our movie marathon ends. :)
Do you believe that the love for movie is in my blood? Passed down from my parents? During my younger days, I loved watching movies and series too. I remember during my PMR year, 还珠格格Huan Zhu Ge Ge was the hit. My parents of course purchased the Vcds and watched at home every night. I would stay in the room to study and prepare for exams. Wow, when they talk about the jokes from the movies, I would get really mad at them! I can't imagine why I reacted such.. so childish. I wish I can say "Sorry" to my daddy now. :( I could watch love korean series, up to the stage where I do not like to be disturbed right after the movie, because I was still living in the scenes of the movies. I would dwell in the story for a few days. Imagine a love story like Autumn in my heart 蓝色生死恋 that ended with someone died.. I could cry a few times. And I preferred to be alone and remain silent. This movie addiction was quite scary I reckon. It was pulling me down. To sum it up, it didn't make me a happier person.
That's why over the years after I accepted Christ I have invented some new strategies. I will narrow down to only fun and happy and romantic happy ending movies like Ice Kacang 初恋红豆冰! :D If it's a sad movie, I will want to find out the ending of the movie before I watch it. Or during the movie, I will do some other stuffs like sewing or applying nail varnish. :D These are so I wont be too into the movie. Hehe, like when we watched 叶问2 Ip Man, when the 洪师父Hong Si Fu was going to die, i had to walk in and out of the kitchen to prepare for my sewing assignment. :P Turned out quite well. Hehe. I'm now a happier person! :D
Yeay! Movies, you cannot tie me down !! I won't be a movie freak ! Nenenenepoopoo! :P
