Mini Milestones : Jasmine's 8th month

8 months old already... that's like less than half year to being 1 year old!
This should be the sitting-on-her-own stage, crawling and then soon to walking stage. :) But our baby girl has yet to learn all those, she's a little slower, we've seen and heard babies younger than her sitting and crawling.. but we're fine. :) All we know is, she is progressing beautifully and all will fall into place in God's perfect timing. :)

So this month, our baby girl has started eating porridge, for lunch & dinner. In the morning at Lian's, she will feed her cerelac mix Farley's biscuit, then drink warm water and take morning nap. When she wake up in the afternoon, Lian will usually feed her milk, then bath her and feed her porridge. She will let her play on the bouncer until she's tired, she will take her afternoon nap. She usually wakes up in the evening, 5pm or 6pm, have milk and then wait for mummy to pick her up. :) Lian will pack her porridge for me, so I will feed her once we reach home. After dinner, wipe her, change diapers and put on pyjamas... we will start rocking her to sleep at 8.30pm.. usually by 9.30pm or 10pm she will be in dreamland. :)

So here's a very contented baby eating porridge after coming back from Lian's. She loves to eat and often will open mouth waiting for food to enter. :D And I'm so glad we started wearing bibs on her. Extra cuteness. We tried putting on bib when she drools a lot, turns out the whole bib were soaked so we scrapped that practice.

Lian said she fed Jasmine putting her on the bouncer, which is easier compared to sitting on our lap. So I followed.
Sometimes while getting excited about food, she kicks too much until she hit my hand, and the porridge will land somewhere else.. which can get really messy. Also when she gets curious about the spoon, tried to grab and then stain the rocker and her clothes with porridge in her little hands.
I will try to feed her from side ways to avoid her kung fu kicks.
When my kor kor is around, he doesn't mind helping with feeding, which  is so awesome!!

This is one of the first weekends we were feeding Jasmine with purees. Her first favourite is potato, banana and carrot. This morning I tried blending steamed apples with potato.

Aaaammmm.........
She didn't like it! We suspect the steamed apple was sour! Poor girl! Hahah...look at that face!
We tried to get her to eat at least half on the rocker... but eventually decided to stop. After this we tried non steamed apple, she like it better. Hehe.

Same day, where we just finished church and was having lunch in Pyramid. I packed her food in diaper bag. We fed her... she didn't like it again. Well.. steamed apply fail. Hehe.

When we don't have bib nearby we just substitute with napkin. I didn't expect those food stains to be so stubborn, can't get them out still. -_-

Her style of eating this month is while eating, she would be grabbing her legs... and sometimes sucks on her legs with porridge still in her mouth. It can get very messy, porridge on her thighs, in her neck and on her face.
Worse if she decides to grab the spoon full of porridge and then touch her hair!

Food we've fed her at home are - banana, broccoli, potato, carrot, apple, avocado, pears, pumpkin, spinach and sweet potatoes.
Also thanks to solid food training, she drools very much lesser these days. Because she already learnt how to swallow them. Sometimes we attempt feeding without bib. If she's cooperative, it won't be that messy.
Feeding her on the high chair, she might just decided to bend down and start licking the high chair table.. had to wipe clean after each feed.

She blows bubbles or do the "Bhvooooo" sound while eating, after eating and anytime she feels like. :D
Until saliva dripping from her mouth, some saliva on my face.. haha..
She is growing teeth and will bite on Joshua's finger. Joshua say it's painful! :D Like she's eating steak.
We also just started to try to get her to sit on her own... and she gets frustrated.
And her Jiu Jiu pities her.

Thanks to all the porridge she's eating, she has started to produce solid food adult poop. :D
Here she is trying to make a fresh poop. She can do this while being fed, or just stop drinking milk to concentrate on this, depending on the size and urgency.
This is one of the biggest business she's made.

I was surprise in the same day she pooped so many times. The above also happened on same day.
No more watery poop. It's all in biji biji form. Of course more smelly.

She also started to scream a little. She doesn't do it a lot though.

One morning, when Anne was eating cereal, she was holding jasmine and next thing is Jasmine puts her leg into the cereal. Haha..

Oh, she's officially outgrown S size diapers and upgraded to M size diapers. Thank God the S size mamy-poko diapers didn't go to waste. We now let her wear mamy-poko only at night because that's what people do. :P During the day she will be wearing which ever brand that's cheap like diapex or pet pet or huggies. We still have 4 packs of mamy-poko from the last warehouse sales. It was RM25 per pack of 44... and I now have educated myself that it is still relatively more expensive than pet pet or diapex on promo!! They could be sold at RM29 per pack of 78!!  Lesson learnt... after we finish our mamy-poko, we might just go with any brand on promo. One thing we're thankful is Jasmine's bum bum is ok with just any kind of diapers! :D Good girl! Good bum!

Whenever Joshua puts his nose near her, she will try to taste it! It never fail to make us laugh. :D

Poor girl had fever somewhere 19 April, followed by flu & cough. Her fever was not very high, was around 38 degrees.

But her blocked nose has given us miserable nights. She would wake up crying because of blocked nose. When we tried to give her the nasal spray she would cry even louder. I tried to let her sleep on my chest like how I did the last time she had blocked nose but it didn't work well this time. She would seemed frustrated and kept on pressing on my boobs which is really painful. She drank lesser milk.. which in a way is good in prolonging her transition to mix formula milk, I could even keep some in freezer. But she also rejected dinner for 3 days straight!!

To make things more worrying, she vomitted 3 times in the span of 2 days. Sadly, she clearly lose some weight. We could see very obvious weight lose in her chubby thighs, is still chubby but very much lesser. :(

Misery was solved when we finally saw 2 baby teeth on her lower gum!! That explains the fever, flu & cough! 2 very tiny teeth hehe... it's hard to catch a glance because her tongue would always be sticking out to lick my finger whenever I open up her mouth. :D

This month, mainly due to her blocked nose condition, we put her to sleep on her back and side, and she slept through few hours. Not bad... I really miss seeing her sleep on her back and she's finally back at it.

Whenever I find her looking quite awake in middle of night, I will just put her on this mattress and feed her while I catch up on my sleep. Often when I wake up she's already sleeping again, so I will quietly go back to my own bed. This is one of the first few mornings I find her sleeping quietly on her own. :)

Here she was just waking up.

She has grown much stronger, not just being able to toss and turn in her sleep, ending up in different sleep positions..........
she also wake up without making a noise, but start to explore her surroundings...

and tore down almost everything in the cot including baby monitor, pram book, loose pillow cases....

Jasmine has a habit of straightening her hands to the side especially when being carried. We discovered it since last month, while rocking her to sleep, we tried to put her hand inwards to be on Joshua's chest but she would without fail open up her arm to the side again. We laughed at this a lot. :)

She also has developed the habit of shaking her left leg, yes, just the left leg. Being carried or sitting on our lap or lying down or in car seat or in stroller. When she's sitting on the Ikea high chair, she would be swinging both legs in the air. :D She's very comfortable sitting on the high chair, she would be swinging her legs like happy feet, and exploring whatever toys in front of her.

We also discovered, this month when we put our hands on her face, if she doesn't want it there, she would use her tiny hand to pull our hands down. We repeatedly put our hand back on her face and she would repeatedly pull our hands down.

We started going to church together with Joshua, which is to be in church by 7am! Jasmine of course changed from morning bath to afternoon bath. She's in very good mood in morning, so it makes getting ready for such early appearance less annoying. :)
During service, we try to get her to take her morning nap. This is first time Joshua put her on tummy on stroller. :) It worked.

On rainy days, when I take her from Lian into the car, I usually cover her head with a napkin and she will play with the napkin. One of the most hilarious moment was when I found her in this. :D

She picked up a new thing - pulls her own hair. @.@ It is bad especially she don't have much to start with! I tried to teach her not to do that but she doesn't seem to be able to understand yet. She would seem really frustrated when she pull her hair, and not just pull. She would GRAB and PULL!! Like she's under great stress. -_- She do it anytime, when drinking milk or even when sleeping.

Ah Ma came to spend time with Jasmine again. Priceless moments to hear my mum share old stories while changing diaper for little Jasmine.
Jiu Jiu also spoils Jasmine. :)

One day, Joshua was home with her. He was working on his laptop while Jasmine was left to play on the mat in living room.
After a while, he found her here!
So he suspect that Jasmine has rolled and flipped over to the concrete floor....... hmmm....

On 30 April, we had Homes in our house. Jasmine was in her comfort zone i.e. the playmat in the living room with adults surrounding her. We were studying the word of God when she decided to perform rolling. :D She did a few continuous rolling until she's reached the concrete floor. I had to catch her to prevent her from rolling onto the concrete floor. Now this is new challenge to me, how to protect her from the hard floor? Ohh mama mia...
The next morning, she woke up and I put her next to me on the bed while I continue to sleep... Joshua was up and reading football news at his computer. Jasmine was next to me doing all sorts of noise, trying to crawl, kicking or rolling... next thing I heard is Joshua said "Eh!!!" and quickly catch her. She had already rolled to Joshua's side and reached the edge of the bed! If she roll another time, she would fall off the bed and land on the laminated floor! Phew!! We really have to change some rules around here, no more placing baby on the bed if no one is watching. ;)

How to prevent her from becoming potato couch or square eyes? Any suggestion will help!
As much as I would love to raise a book worm... inevitably she's very much drawn to moving objects shown on the Sharp Aquos in the living room...
Once in a while she gets more interested with her toys which gives me a little more comfort. :P

She is loving her pacifier! I never expect her to be so attached to them but Lian has somehow trained her to sleep on her own with pacifier in her mouth, so a habit it has become.
She is fully capable of removing the pacifier, inspect it...
And put it back into the mouth. Most times she would put in the wrong way, chewing on the wrong parts so we often help her to put back correctly.
She loves to chew almost anything.. and this month, her new favourite chew toy is label.
Label on pillows, her toy or blanket. Here she is chewing the largest label she has.
Needless to say, when I pull her away, the label was soaked in her salivaaaaaaa...

Her cutest sleep pose this month - Kawaii ne... she totally posed this way on her own, without any help!

Yep, a finger on the face that's all. :D
We call her the big bully, because she cried asking to be rocked to sleep. And this face, whoa.. super big boss, like don't you dare wake me up, I cry again then you know. Haha...
Here's how she sleeps in Lian's place. ;) I always try to mimic. :D

This month, I put in effort to design photobook of her. Because we got the free softcover squarebook from Groupon, I decided to print out all her classic photos. Documenting her journey as an infant, for at least the first year. :) We have 3 free books, so I decided to make it into 4 books, each book documenting 3 months. I probably have to pay for the last book but I think it's worthwhile. So her first book was completed! Documenting her first 3 months! It's a good feeling to know I've done this for my baby. :) Can't wait for her to grow up and start asking me "mummy, is this me??"

Again, this month we took some portraits with Joshua's Lumia and his newly upgraded camera. :)

Not to forget, this month we went through one whole month (April) of water rationing. 2 days alternate. It was quite a suffer for us. And we're glad Jasmine survived. :)
To add on to the "suffering", when it was our turn to get water one morning, we discovered that water pressure was extremely low... abnormally low. When we were leaving for work only we found out there was a huge whole right before our gate. The underground had burst and lots and lots of water were wasted!! :( :(
Immediately called Syabas and they came to repair. I came home to this scene.
Had to park in front of 73, and under the rain, carried Jasmine back into 71. I really hated the inconvenience and the dirt everywhere I step on. :( So glad it's over. They sent another contractor here on following day to tar the road. Because of rainy season, the tar couldn't dry completely for few days until we couldn't be bothered, just drove in by faith. There were some tyre marks and dents on the tar road though. :P

Overall, Jasmine is such a smiley baby this month.
When I sent this photo to mummy's email, she immediately called me on the phone. Sounded very serious... "Joan ah, you must've been very happy when you were greeted by such a happy baby." Yes.. indeed I feel so blessed. :) God you're really good.. :) Thank you..

Looking like a boy but still our darling girl.

So much more interactions this month.

Jasmine, great job at smiling this month! Thanks for all the joy you've brought to our household! :D
