Mini Milestones : Jasper's 5th month

Our darling boy turned 5 months old! How time flies and it's just another month before he starts on solid.... can't imagine how is that going to happen.. and how we would cope. But lets celebrate his milestones! It's another exciting month. :)

We went to La La Chong again with Swee Lin jiji & family, this time Jasper was on the stroller instead of in my tummy. He was quietly observing when Joshua was struggling to crack a crab and next thing we heard was a loud bang and the crab literally flew to Jasper and rested on his arm. He didn't respond to it at all. I was more angry at Joshua for being careless, it could've flown to his face!!
Kathy sang to Jasper when he woke up... and he was well entertained.

Ironically, Jasper startles easily. Like when he is latched on, I say "wah" he would jump. Or when I carry him and open Lian's rusty side door, the noise made him jump too.

When we put both kids on the double stroller, our little kicker her would start kicking Jasmine's seat. Jasmine was so annoyed we had to ensure Jasper doesn't slide down too much, so he can't reach the front seat.

We made passport for him so that we can buy tickets for our year end Taiwan trip!

One morning, he was wide awake from 6am to 7am, refusing to drink milk, just kept smiling or laughing at me. I was so sleepy... I tried to give him pacifier few times... and finally he fall back to sleep again. This is one baby that doesn't need to be rocked to sleep. So easy!! But also because of the "lack of exercise" we get tired easily carrying him around the house. Of course another factor is he is heavy for a 5 month old. We guessed he is 7kg plus?

Thread kept getting entangled in his hair... like again and again.
This month I cut 4th to 10th time! It's very tricky whenever I had to find the right angle to cut. He likes to look to right and look to left all the time which made the job hard.

Jasper is big and long compared to Jasmine. He is already quite at par in terms of width. They can share the same clothes now, and pants. Only difference is Jasper's long pants would be Jasmine's midi pants.
Jasmine loves kissing his fingers.
Sorry boy, we know you're hungry but sometimes mummy got to settle jeje also. :) You're a patient baby.
We do quite some tummy time for him in living room... he often drools and wet the blanket. :D

Jasmine jeje giving moral support. They are lovely... :)

Whenever he's done drinking my milk and I kept forcing him to latch again, he would kickkk hard to position himself away from the milk source. It's very funny to see him trying to turn away. His kicks are solid, really solid. 7th April, he kicks the cot bar so hard until it sounds like it was vibrating.

He is getting really good at grabbing stuffs. He can grab the pacifier away from his mouth and then try to put it back to his mouth but most times he is still not accurate enough.

He is a very alert baby, whenever he's in the car seat and not fast asleep, he's always looking out the window or around. :) I thank God for the back mirror, but also wish they don't get out of alignment so frequent, so that I can see more of his expressions during my boring drive to and fro KK.
6th April, he was up at 7.15am so I left him on the mattress for some tummy time.
He fell asleep when he gets tired, without fussing!  When he's left on the mattress on his back, he would kick or stretch his legs so hard until he spins 360 degrees and then another 90 degrees. He's quite amazing.

Here's the baby drinking milk in between his tummy time.
And left him down for too long, you will get a cry baby. His cries are described by Uncle Bala as low key. :)

Midnight I will wake up to see him already moved in his sleep. The 3-6m sizes t-shirts are getting short and showing tummy quite often.

Finally, we bought a stroller fan for him. It's so magical he suddenly doesn't mind being left in the stroller. He could even fall asleep on his own in the stroller while we are eating breakfast at Melur.
A class baby.

Starting 9th April, we shifted him to be same room as Jasmine. He was so so excited about the new environment, especially the stickers on the wall, he kept on kicking stomping and laughing and coo-ing. We think it's also the new lighting, new noise... which made him wake up many times too. I was too blur to remember the exact number of times I was up, but at least 4 times.

Some nights, Jasmine would be performing her dance & singing in the room... it's very merry.

He could tore down the pram book... -_-
Nights where I had to stay up late to work, I love to come in to check on both of them before I hit the sack myself. :) Thank God for my 2 lovely kids.

I also bought new pillow covers for him, to be used at Lian's. And took out soft toys to wash & sun, I thought he would like to grab and bite but not really yet... he still likes napkins. Just plain napkins he would be happily playing with it, cover his face, uncover his face and laugh. Pulling, covering his face.. laugheddd his classic high pitch laugh... and falling asleep with a napkin near his face..

13th April, when I was home with both, we were watching tv, while I left Jasper on the mat. Right in front of me I saw him trying to flip so I quickly grab my phone, I am glad I could capture his first flip!!

Jasmine congratulated him.

Captain sucks his fist very loud.
You can hear the sucking noise from far and this had even inspired Jasmine to try to do the same.
Sometimes in midst of eating his fist, he would do a bit of "butterfly fly" motion, to which I asked Jasmine to see and she is thrilled to see and demonstrate to Jasper the correct finger motion. :)

Jasper is only committed in eating his fist, 10th April when he kicks too hard while sitting on the rocker untied, he already fell off the rocker with only his neck and head on it, he didn't cry and didn't panic at all, still eating his fist.

Lian told me that she will be taking in Shaynee & Sanjay's baby sister in the coming month and that she doesn't mind buying another wooden cot for the baby. I volunteered to look out for second hand ones. So I quickly ran through Carousell & Facebook Preloved page... found one exactly same as the one we have at home, selling for RM150 including mattress. It's at Mont Kiara so Joshua could pick it up. Lian paid me cash once I told her about it. So Joshua picked it up, put into Serena, shifted into Lian's house. And after one weekend, the cot was all set up and ready for Jasper to sleep in. Lian thinks it's better for him, for tummy time on flatter surface. But.. Jasper is still not use to it. He was not able to soothe himself to sleep on it. In fact, he could watch tv in between the bars. So he still sleep back on the orange playpen.

15th April, he was wide awake even after I fed him milk. I checked on him twice but after that I fell asleep... when I woke up to check again, found that he has almost spinned 360 degrees!  17th April, we forgot to switch on the baby monitor, poor boy cried till Joshua heard him. After I fed him, he was quite awake, so I gave him the pacifier. I got up another 2 times to check on him and again I dozed off... same thing I got up again and found that he had spinned 270 degrees.
So I decided it's time to use the bumper pad, but my worry is he won't be getting much fan with the pads on.

So on 18th April, I put the bumper pads on, I only covered the long sides, so the fan can still reach him through the short sides. That night, we forgot to switch on the baby monitor again, this time I heard him myself. Maybe it's due to these 2 incidents, on 19th April he didn't wake up for milk at all, just slept through the night.

When Ah Ma is around, he gets carried more.. and Ah Ma always bath him and the only one who will clean his mouth with a handkerchief. :)

I love to see him in white. In fact, I will try to buy more white onesies for him. He has very nice pants to wear with whites, like this pair was from mother care. It is already fitting him just nice so I hope I get to let him wear more often!

Jasper likes Ah Yi a lot because Ah Yi always entertain him. He reacts very happily whenever he sees her.

We took a Sunday morning to take some family photos. It's been a while... although I am not feeling pretty... with hair falling and sweating due to hormones & weather... we still should try to take some nice photos.
Especially this boy is growing so fast in terms of size.

I wish he stays like a koala bear like this but reality is he keeps on changing sides, and if I was not careful I will get bump on my face or hit my sharp chin on his head (Ouch for his soft skull!).
And some head digging is also very real. :)

Weekday nights after work is always our prime time for some family quality time with them.
And teaching Jasmine how to sayang Jasper.
We rely on the rocker a lot at home especially during meals. We are still trying to source for an affordable second hand rocker when we have to put this at Lian's house..

Keeping him still on our laps can be a challenge too because he kicks and attempt to move a lot.

Weekday mornings... Joshua used to take quite some consistent selfies with Jasmine before.. maybe he should do the similar with Jasper.

And this is what happens on weekend nap time. Best is when both settled for a nap and I am not too tired to join them. I could catch up on my own stuffs!

This month, we've been going to the 3K swimming pool. Myself and Jasper didn't enter the pool, we just stay at the side. When I feed him under the covers, I had to put a fan in there too otherwise it's too hot. After that, we went to Burgertory. During dinner, I strapped him to be with the shoulder sling but he didn't like it. I believe it's because it's hot but after I fed him 3 times throughout dinner followed by hugging & rocking... he finally fell asleep.

We did milk bath for him on 23rd April and after that he took quite a long nap.

First he has to be naked....
I've added warm water to the old milk that were rejected or accidentally left out for more than suggested, so cannot be consumed anymore.
The smell of breast milk was bad...

Yucks but this boy is still happy and ticklish.
So interactive!

Then, same as Jasmine, dry him up and change on the historical blanket. :)
He peed! Too bad it was not captured and thank God I had the towel nearby.
His buttock shape is different from Jasmine's. Hehe.
Diaper size is still S size but it is already getting tight. We plan to finish of the 2 packs that are already open and then move on to M size. We still have about 2 or 3 packs of S size which we think we may just give it to our friends who are expecting their babies this year.
This shirt is where he got the nickname "Captain" from! Bought it in Melbourne when expecting Jasmine, and kept it till Jasper comes... captain cute. :) :) So Jasper is "Captain" and Jasmine is "Cute Cute".

I bought a second hand ergo carrier for RM250. We tried it on that night when we went to Subang Parade.

He didn't fuss, and could sleep through our sushi dinner. But after that he became restless. I really hope we can train him to stay in the ergo so that we can carry him with it during our upcoming year end Taiwan trip.
More practices at home. He likes it sometimes, sometimes not.
But often when I had to feed Jasmine dinner and it's time for Jasper's nightly power nap,

I also use this ring sling that mummy bought for me in 2014. I didn't think it was useful until now.. it helps me keep him close and in tact during meal times!
When strollers are not allowed, this ring sling became essential.

Finally, on 27th April, I sent our rocker to Lian's house so that he can sit around instead of just being left in the cot. We took some time to ask around whether anyone could borrow us... or seek for second hand ones.. but in the end we decided to just go without one at home. We thought will just let him lie on the mat. We may be able to let him sit like this on the sofa instead of getting a rocker or a bumbo seat?

Or the ergo carrier would be another option as well.

This month, he had discovered his legs. He very often plays on his own, grabbing his legs and laugh by himself. An easily contented boy.

In the flipping department, he gets more and more expert in it by end of the month. He could do it easily and could stay up much longer. He even know how to rest his head down to rest, and then lift up again. Once he does it few rounds and eventually fall asleep on his own.

Here are 2 family selfies we took this month. Both with Joshua's phone so it had that face enhancing features that made us look better than actual.
This one is when we went to Sunway Pyramid to run errand - I think is buy Joshua's sub pants?

And this one I couldn't recall... But Jasmine looks so happy and cheerful... and Jasper was just doing his thing, look left look right...

FAVOURITE PICTURE this month, I was so sleepy when Jasmine cried at midnight. I walked over, settled her... found this cute boy... sleeping like an angel. I went to grab my phone and took a few photos. I was tired and sleepy but this was worth the effort for sure.
I wish he stay little like this longer... don't grow up so fast Boy...
