Repriorised

Looked back at all my posts.. first post on May 26th 2007 , just once sentence that's it

Life can be that simple back then?

Then I went on to post on different topics, mostly work rant, family history, me wearing my mother's clothes, our wedding, our house renovation, our holidays, pregnancies update... and then... the weekly or monthly MINI MILESTONES that went on for almost 10 full years. This blog used to be public, then made private with only shin wee & shin yee could read, and now fully private. Maybe next time I will give access to my children and grandchildren. :)

Ok now back to why I am writing this post. With Jared with us, I can't keep up anymore la. Today is 23rd June 2023, I am 38 years and 7 months old ! When I started writing here, I was only 22 years old. How time has passed. I am immensely thankful for my past & young self for writing here, consistently in the past 16 or so years. Thank you thank you thank you.

Now, I have to admit that I cannot keep up to my momentum anymore. I have been trying to diligently post photos of my 3 babies and writing about their developments on monthly basis. It was challenging to write about 2 kids but I still made it happen (because those 2 sleep 2-3 hours every afternoon/evening). But when there're 3 kids, I knew it was time to simplify. So I kept it to only writing about Jared. However... even that is challenging (the 1 kid hardly take naps!). I end up creating back logs left right and centre for myself.

Now is June 2023, I have finally settled printing all the photobooks - 4 for Jared for his 1st year, 1 each for Jasmine and Jasper for their 9th & 7th year, and then 1 for everyone for the Year 2022. I am anal about keeping memories in printed photobooks like that and I think that should carry on. As for this digital blog space, finally have to admit that I cannot do it anymore.

There are a few other backlogs that are quite important, like I haven't been keeping records of our daily spending on the Home Budget app for the past few months and that makes me feel guilty, because not knowing what we spend on freaks me out a bit. It makes me fear about spending money because I don't know if we spend more than we earn. So I really have to find a quicker way to do that because the past methods are taking too much time. Like reading credit card statements and scrolling through Joshua's grab pay history. -_- God give me wisdom, I dont know how other people do it. I wish someone can just teach me. But sadly asian culture people just don't talk about money that freely.

Also the hardcopy memories of children's school work for Year 2022, I haven't sat down to do a bit of filing. I still owe them that. :) My aim is they will have their school work from as young as possible filed by the academic year in a box. That's it. :) Memories encapsulate, on top of the photobooks. :) I love all my children and these are my love language. I hope they will appreciate when they grow up and understand why I do those things.

Next is our family documents which are forever in a mess and I feel utterly insecure about. I still haven't manage to find time to organize and write down my system, so that I myself will follow that system to keep things in place consistently. With my memory getting poorer these days, I have to make myself commit to some habits of writing down either hardcopy or in google docs for my future self to refer to, so that my future self feels more secured and assured. Thanking my current self, haha. Well, I still have to find time to do it!! Lets hope in July after submitting Joshua's tax return (that was another big major project every year that haunts me until I shiver), I can get these big items sorted out.

So that's why I am writing here. I have many things that I wish I can do here but I have to keep things simple from here on. I know re-focusing or re-prioritising is necessary so here are the things that I have to focus on in the coming months - finish writing about Jared's 11th and 12th months mini milestones and close the chapter of mini milestones here. Will only come in here to write about our family holidays and perhaps our migration progress (if it does happen, who knows?)

And outside of the digital blog space, I have to make sure I keep easy records of our daily spending, keep our family docs including purchase of solasta condo organised and at finger tips. And ensuring that we make progress on the migration project - started a google doc with Joshua, hopefully we can work on it together and give our children a better future. I must get on to doing our photos & videos back up too! We used to do it monthly but now I think even quarterly is challenging. Hahaha, do it do it dont slack!

Keep the house minimal , sell as much things as possible and donate unwanted items. So that when it's time to migrate, it will not be too much work. And learn to live minimal should help us when it's time for us to move too. God will make a way, when there seems to be no way. :) :) :)

So yes, before I turn 40, I have stopped forcing myself to write here monthly. Giving myself the approval now. And I have started migration process and hopefully move our family there before turning 45! Going to sign the service agreement before 1st July, before the fees increase and pay our first payment which comes up to about RM6.5k.

Now to finally sum up my main focus in life :-

As a mother : I need to ensure my children grow up with good values

As a wife : I partner with my husband to make a better life for our children and our retired selves

As a daughter : I work together with Anne to keep track of my mum's health (I rely on her on this part a lot and hope I can stay updated on her health records as much as possible)

I am scatter brain these days, so I guess that's it for now. :)
Lets hope for a great 2023!
