Week 16. 6th to 12th August.
Monday, it's public holiday. Fabricator Leong already arrived at 10.30am. My aunty (cousin's mum) sent the keys at 11am. He was busy so could not come. Anyway the fabricator came but did not bring the gate.. only some parts of the fence. @.@ The lorry driver whom my cousin arranged, came at almost 11.30am and said that the gate is not ready yet. Only can be done by 2pm. :( So the fabricator and me waited and waited.
While waiting, I carried out the dining table legs from 73 to 71. This dining table was built by my great grandfather (my mum's grandfather)'s carpenter back in the 1950s! This was the official dining table for the family until they moved out of Setiawan. The table was sent to Muar office and I used to have meals on it during primary school days. I remembered it and had it delivered to subang... I will show you the table top next round. :) :) We paint the legs first. :D I loveeeee historical furnitures!!
Sandpaper the whole thing, wiped clean and then started painting. While I was doing those, the fabricator chatted with me. He's a nice polite man. :) He said he's surprise a girl like me can do these. His wife won't lift a finger to do it. Haha.. to me.. it's simple.. we all learn how to deal with wood at Kemahiran Hidup class! :P I just simply rambo my way through hahaha..
I had doubts about the whole thing while I was working on it... Before I went out to buy things from hardware shop for our bathroom floor trap, I painted the base coat.
When I return, I tried to paint the top coat carefully. I realised the more careful I am the uglier the paint turned out. :( The process was slow because I was struggling with myself, trying to think howwww to paint it nicely?? Finally I took a bold step and just use the brush and sweep through the wood like colouring on a piece of paper... and I realised that I just need to brush a few times and it will look good! :D yeay!
Anyway while I was doing all those, lorry came at 2.30pm, but no gate still. :( Just the remaining parts of the back fence.. Fabricator said he will aim to complete the back fence.
Then Joshua appeared at 6pm (after work) and joined me to paint the table legs. We moved the table indoor because we need to leave it overnight to dry eventually.
Fences are up. :) This designs look like prison we know.. but our cousin bought it ready made so I believe is much cheaper.. he haven't revealed the price to us yet.
Not nice looking, but good enough for us la hehe.
We finally bid good bye to the fabricator at 6.45pm. They still have 2 more fence to install which they will continue next day. Then we also completed the painting at 7pm.
Long day for me!! I can't believe painting such a small thing can take up so much energy and attention! And my whole body aches.... I am so unfit... haha..
Tuesday, we're both back to work like normal. Fabricator arrived at 11am.. and I went back during lunch hour to open the door for them to get to the back of the house to finish up the fence. He gave me bad news again, gate is not coming in... because the lorry driver was not informed that the gate is ready so he already has other itinerary for the day. He could only help to transport the gate in the next day. Well.. we just have to be patient then!
At night, we went to 71 to do a final coating to the dining table. It definitely needed another coat... :)
We also cleaned up the place a little, lay protective layer on the floors ready for the electricians to come for air cond installation. It's going to get dusty still. :(
Wednesday, fabricator arrived at 11am again, I pity them they always have to wait! :) Anyway finalllyyy at about 2pm I heard the news that the gate has ARRIVED and they are INSTALLING it.... YEAY!!!
Fabricator sent this picture to our phones to show us final product. :)
We met at 71 to look at the gate, standing gloriously... protecting the house. :) Oh but now the gate is a bit flimsy it moves when the wind blows because there's nothing to support it at the middle bottom, we need to get auto gate guy to come fix it soon. :)
We went to Ikea, hoping to buy furnitures so they can send by Sunday, only to find out if we want them to deliver on Sunday, we have to buy on Thursday. They can only our stocks for 3 days and if we delay for 1 day, we have to pay RM20. -_-
Thursday, our electricians came to instal AIR CONS! Yeay!! 3 air conds up. :) :) I noticed a few areas along the staircase showing the paint scrap off. I believe they were not being careful when carrying the air conds up the stairss... sigh.. more touching ups to be done.. :(
Joshua and Anne had worship practices at night so I am alone to go to Ikea. I managed to asked a colleague to come with me, it's better to have someone helping..... but.... bad news is the bookshelf we wanted to buy is Out Of Stock because of Raya Season. :( But good news, look who I met at Ikea! :D Pregnant Shin Wee!! Hehehe...
I left Ikea empty handed, but it was good to finally see my friend before she deliverrrr... :D And I had a great time talking to my colleague Rae Ling in the car. :) :) Thank God for good friends, it's therapeutic especially in this challenging season! :) Before I go home, I went to 71 to look at the air conds. :) But I forgot to test them out. Too blur! :P
2 horse power for living room.
1 horse power for guest room.
1.5 horse power for masterbedroom.
Friday, I had to attend Bloom Conference so Joshua did a bit of packing at our USJ home. We planned to start moving the following week! ;)
Saturday.. whole day I'm at Bloom Conference and Joshua the man of the house are the main coordinator at 71! :) 9.30am Floor Depot came, to replace skirting and repair the staircase! :D
They gave us new skirting, which is 1cm taller and more expensive, but they didn't charge us further. :)
They did some realignment to the staircase as well. :)
And then the auto gate guy came to instal the motor.. woo hoo!
Cool uncle.. and chatty. :)
AND... our bathroom bi-fold doors and the shower cubicle also arrived!
We love their work! :D
Electrician Ah Long also came to fix the light at our gate. We've fixed for the light to light up once auto gate opens. :) Ah Long also calculated for us the final bill while Joshua closed his eyes to rest.. it was a long day for him. :) We're glad that these 3 contractors came on time and delievered their job on time too! :)
Just a recap of the wardrobe case, carpenter's boss Madam Yeak promised that this carpenter will come to do the repair i.e. change new wardrobe doors & drawers by this Saturday. When Joshua called him on Thursday, he said not ready, can only come on 15th August!! We were mad!! He is taking 2 weeks to make new doors and drawers for us? And everything has to delay because of his crap? We said either you do it on Saturday or you remove the wardrobe. He insisted he can only deliver on Wednesday, and that if we said so, he will come to remove the wardrobe. Joshua managed to call the carpenter's boss who is now in UK, the boss said deposit of RM2k cannot be refunded and hang up!! We thought if the carpenter really come to collect the wardrobe, we will make him sign on a Delivery Order document, and with that document demand a full deposit refund irregardless of whether Madam Yeak agrees. And that fat guy carpenter did not turn up at all. We called, using many other phone numbers and he just did.not.pick.up. That's a lot for us to take.... we consulted our cousin, who has been talking to the carpenter's boss's partner Ms Ling. Ms Ling said this is complicated because this case is not made known to her and the rest of the company, it was like Madam Yeak's personal business... and we were told to wait for her to return from UK to derive at a firm solution. ARRGHHH !!! I went crazyyyyyy....... why a simple wardrobe can become so complicated?? We thought, why not we get another carpenter to make new doors and drawers and we will just take it that the wardrobe frame cost RM2k. But our cousin say if we do that, our actions are implying that we are accepting the wardrobe and Madam Yeak will demand for full payment....@.@ We really neeeeeed God to intervene, God of justice! Give us peaceee.. that this will be well taken care of..........
Sunday, we were both tired, so we just rest... :) Long week ahead of us.... we are starting to move... ;)
