Nesting : Year 2012 :)

We moved in in August 2012... when there were still quite some to do in the house.. but the experience has been better than I imagined :)  God is good...

On 26th October, after our Korea trip, we finally hosted the dearest most precious best woman on earth - my mum :)

We bought chicken, pork, fish and various vegetables at the market behind SS15. Each time I meet my mum, I have targets and I will focus on those. There are so many things I want to do for her, like help her change her lifestyle to be healthier, help her finish office accounts key in, help clear filing room, help tidy up the house, help her make appointment for health check ups etc etc.. I know I cannot do all at once, so I try to prioritise on a few each time. This round is just easy - 100% home cooked meals. :D

We cooked every meals over the weekend.. and fully utilised our kitchen!

It was a good weekend with her, my brother & the wife stayed in 73 at night, while Anne and mummy slept in the moon room in 71. Few days before mum's arrival, we ordered a bed for her, RM1500. Bought an 11 inche flip free mattress that will be good for her back. :) Not to forget, this trip, I learnt how to use sewing machine from mum. :D

Random things in the house... here's Joshua relaxing on the couch watching Friends after a long day at work and a simple home cooked meal. :) I was planning the picture wall at the dining table, when I caught him swinging the pillow in the air... for no reason. Haha.

One weekend we went back to Muar and came back with our car packed and packed with things!! There were a wooden chair to add to our dining chairs, an ice box full of meat mum bought from the market, an old tv owned by my grandma, bed clothes, mattresses etc etc... believe me our Johnny was 100% packed. Hahaha...

We also took back 6 packs of soil to fill our little garden. This garden came as a surprise to us. Mum promised we will plant the flowers together on the 26th Oct weekend but she and Anne secretly did all the work while we were in Korea. She also decorated our living room with new pillows, couch blanket covers etc. That's her love language :)

She complained that she wanted to buy 10 packs of soil but Anne limited her to only 5 packs. In the end the space was bigger than expected, that's why we had to bring back the additional 6 packs all the way from Muar. Sorry to say, I really don't know where to buy soil in Subang! :P

We also took back some knives that was brand new but not used for more than 10 years.. Joshua used it to cut orange and under-estimated the power of it, he cut his own finger. There were a lot of blood. :(

That Saturday, we fixed curtains in moonroom. :) Hesitated on the curtain here because of the air con right above the window, finally we decided to put up white curtains right below the air con. ;)
IMG_0252
Used the old sheer curtain from Muar, just nice. :)

And we put up curtain in drum room too. I don't favour the idea of sound proofing it anymore because that will make room smaller and zero sunlight... This is also old curtain that my mum made for my study room in Muar, I modified it a little so that it is wide enough for this window. :) Can't believe I could operate a sewing machine!! :D

One Friday, my brother came with his 2 friends to Subang, for a toastmasters event. They stayed over. That's why we took the 3 foldable mattresses from Muar. 2 in skyroom for the 2 friends, 1 in moonroom for kor kor. Needless to say, all the bed sheets and comforters all from Muar. :P

That night, we hosted Homes (caregroup) and did house dedication. ;) Never thought I can accept having so many people crashing at our place... but it is an honor to see people fellowshipping in our place.... I try not to think how they drop food waste on the floor or mess up the pillows on the couch or sat too heavily on the precious rotan couch... I try and am still trying! :)
IMG_0293

One night, I decided I must find a proper place to display my grandma's TV. Have been thinking for many days on where to put it, finally decided skyroom will be the right place. ;) But need to find a small table, a strong table.....
IMG_0311

Made some changes on how we organise things with the use of the extra chipboard from our Ikea book shelf, and surrendered the rotan coffee table to pair with the TV. :D I am so proud of the TV!

24th November, we set up our christmas tree! :D I was having strange fever and sore throat that day, Joshua thought setting up the tree might cheer me up. It did! We had a small wooden tree also. Got it as a free gift from Subang Parade last year...

That day, Joshua also did his drum recording in drum room! It was for a Facebook contest, but he did it as more of his own project, not so hadap to win. But if he win, even better. :D

Sunday, I was still sick... and asked Joshua to do some vaccuming... we have been getting maid cleaning service monthly but once in a while we still need to do simple cleaning, especially after having 30 people over. :)
IMG_0357

And on Monday, I woke up seeing these red spots on my hand, googled, wiki-ed and confirmed I was diagnosed with Hand Food & Mouth. Sigh... miserable!!
IMG_0360
I took MC and went back to work on my birthday 28th November (also the day my boss announced that she resigned, sighhhhh)... and that day Joshua took MC, he got the virus from me and was down with fever & severe sore throat... not HFM though, thank God. :)

Randomness - thankful for our white wardrobe, a nice backdrop for my favourite dresses. :D

Before November ends, our cousin finally sent his contractor over to complete the front fence. :) Galvanised fence, not suppose to need any painting because it should not rust, same material as those highway divider. We think the fence should be at least 1 to 1.5 feet lower to look nicer and less prison-like, but this is free... we are not paying, our cousin is, so... can't be too unhappy. Haha.

And finally finally, after months and months waiting, the drain cover came! The drain in front of our house has been without cover. Thank God no one fell into it.
IMG_0379

Randomness - things we enjoy doing, after work, after dinner, hanging out in front of TV, watching Friends, Joshua doing some data entry for my mum's office accounts and at same time playing football game on ipad. That's his multi-tasking.

7th December, Christmas Homes! :D Total 30 people came.. we had 6 cakes, a ginger bread house decorated with lights, a 4kg turkey, a roasted chicken, a rosted duck, one bucket of KFC, a tray of subway sandwiches, 2 quiches, salad, fruits, ice cream, chocolates, pumpkin pies, turkey stuffings, macaroni & cheese......... yumms!!! We did gift exchange too. ;)

15th December, today, we got the maids here to do cleaning again! Hehe.. these 2 are the best so far. Tiya & Kak Ros. I told them to clean the fans, windows, floor and bathrooms. They did all. Not extremely detailed but good enough for the amount of work done in just 2 hours for RM55. :)
IMG_0460

After they left, we continued scrubbing the floor around the garden, which has grown some green molds. Then we found some rusty parts on the fence. I guess some parts were not 100% galvanised so it is still prone to rust, so I just simply painted them with the left over paint from our renovation.
IMG_0461

Then I made Joshua saw this up. It's a DIY things when my grandma was bedridden in 73. They turned the house into a hospital and used this to create a surface to push her wheelchair up the upper landing. Now that it is not in use anymore, my aunty suggested that we cut off the longer legs and use it as a bench.
IMG_0465

Great idea... it is too low as a bench, but we use it to put shoes. It helps to keep the place less cluttered! :D :D

2 more weeks to end the year 2012... I realised we've enjoyed staying at home so much more... God blessed us with a lovely house... and we've been hosting friends and church meetings... praying that we can bless more people with this blessing. :)

While drinking a cup of hot tea... looking at the house... I realised I still have many improvement plans for this place... like painting an old stool yellow, decorating the wall right at the entrance.. bringing more happy colours to the living room... shifting Anne's wardrobe from 73, looking for a place in kitchen to put the giant oven from 73, painting my grandma's old wardrobe and put in moonroom... hopefully these will all be materialised in 2013. ;)
