1/52 : My 2013 52 weeks project gets started with something yellow...

My biggest fear has always been - time flies without me realising !! Oh my!!

Yes, sometimes my mind is still replaying fresh memories from 2010 or 2011.... and I sometimes need to be reminded, heyyyyyy it's now 2013!!!

Because of planning our wedding, I started using a planner. I have it in my bag and whenever & wherever I think of something, I would immediately write them in my planner. And then come 2012, we were busy renovating our home, so I relied on a planner as well... it helps a lot to have all things witten in just one book. :) Now keeping a planner in my handbag has been a habit, so in Korea, I bought a 2013 planner. One that will remind me of the good times in Seoul... :)

I still keep the planners, here they are, from the left - 2011, 2012 and 2013. The black one was filled with wedding planning and beige one with house planning and then now...

I wonder what will be the major project for the brown one.... we do have a small property that needs painting, furnishing and renting out by Feb 2013, and many home improvements stuffs that is in my head - like getting a chaise lounge for our living room and beautifying the entrance. I am commiting all in God's hands. :) Everything that will come in 2013. :)

I want to start a new culture, other than keeping a planner, I want to do a 52 weeks project!

We've lived in this house since end of August and it's been amazing. We're always thankful for the house and have no complains at all... that's why I really want to capture the memories we have in this house.. and so this 52 weeks project will be - 52 photo memories in this house. :D

Here's the first one... our "walk-through" wardrobe!  And CHECK OUT THAT YELLOW STOOL !!!

I have put this old stool here because we need it to climb up to open the top cabinets. It also serves as another sitting place in this space.

I talked about painting this stool yellow for months and I was so happy I could finally completed it before 2012 ends!! Woo hoo!!

It took me at least 3 days. First day, at about 4pm, I made Joshua help me scrape off as much paint as possible from the stool. He then cooked dinner with Anne while I was still working on the scraping. I was telling myself "never give up never give up!". There were 3 layers of paint, 1st layer was lime green, then the bright orange and lastly grey. When my grandfather's gardeners did the 2nd & 3rd colour they didn't do any scraping or sanding at all. So I scrape and scrape...and only stopped at 8pm when dinner was finally ready.

2nd day was Christmas day. After coming back from church service, I went straight to sand the whole stool. Joshua helped with sanding and rinsing it. After the chair dried up, I immediately started with the base coat! Did one layer and let it dry while I spend time with my mum & aunties who were our guests that day. :) After an hour when the base coat was dry, I immediately brush the yellow paint over it! Ahhh!! I love it !! :D

It rained half way through so I pulled the stool in and still didn't stop painting. There were some parts at the bottom where I couldn't reach so had to wait till the whole thing dry first. We left it out overnight and next day found some small insects that got stuck on the paint. -_-

Another night after work, I found some time to take out the stool again, scrub off the insects, painted the bottom areas i couldn't reach before and paint another layer for the top part to make sure it's even and smooth. :) After it's dry, IT IS DONE!

Yumms.. I am in love with the colour yellow. Paid RM39 for the 1L yellow paint.. now thinking which other furniture to be turned yellow.. hehe..
