I want to strike a balance, be in the moderation.

Something good, if we get too obsessed with it, the outcome would become bad.

For example, I love clothes, but if I get too obsessed and start to buy everything and anything I like... that's bad because.. I could've saved the moneys for other purposes? Like pay for WCA? Hehe. :)

Looking at different ones lives, I came to the realisation.. really.. sometimes having a hobby is great, is awesome, but I am very careful not to let my hobbies eat into my life and define me. If I love to watch movies, and spend all my free time watching movies.. then when will I have quality time to spend with my loved one? when will I have proper rest? when will I have the time to read the bible and pray?

God has been showing me in many context, how imbalance can kick me off the right track. I have been discussing with Anne about it too. So glad that we're both very aware of this. :)

We decided, the one thing... that you can get obssessed with, and totally pleases our Father in Heaven, is.. His words. :)

I hate it when there're so many things happening around me, and I get carried away, and start spending lesser time reading the Word. I find myself saying "I am too tired, I won't know what I'm reading anyway, maybe tomorrow". Well, if I give that excuses 7 times, that'll be one week without feeding myself with God's words. :(

During Home (aka caregroup), we learnt about the importance of God's words. We need to not just Listen (church sermons), we need to also READ, STUDY, MEDITATE and MEMORISE it !! It was such a great reminder. I realised, I need to refocus and rebalance!

Of course the change did not happen right away.. but it started when I kept my NIV Chinese-English & my NLT bibles at the side of my bed.. and I tried reading before I sleep and when I get up in the morning. :) I started to force myself to memorise Psalms. The easier ones, like Psalm 1 & 23. And this morning, I just memorise Psalm 15. I realised, sometimes we don't FEEL like God is speaking, but the fact that we're reading God's words, that itself is powerful. :)

2 days ago, when Julia, Joshua and I were chatting, we found out about a few weddings that're happening around the same time as ours. And a couple who doesn't have as much financial difficulties like us and was going to get married like right before our date. Of course, naturally, we felt threatened. I felt..... wow I didn't know weddings can get so competitive. We had concerns like what if our common friends chose to attend their wedding and not ours? Then who will come to celebrate with us? Oh no, so much worries, that words cannot describe.

Suddenly I felt a sense of peace, so strong.... so firm.. I felt like God is touching my heart and calming me down. :) I wasn't the normal me, the normal me will do a lot of trouble shooting in my head and getting all worried.

I told Joshua and Julia the same after I felt the peace and arranged my thoughts. That... weddings... are supposed to be such a joyful celebration event, full of blessings and everyone rejoicing with the couple. Now, the world has made it into a huge thing, especially for girls, to compare against each other. Whose dress more expensive, photographer more pro, which hotel more grand, food more yummy and better quality etc etc.... I felt that my focus was wrong when I thought of the word "competitive". God loves all his children equally the same. He loves us all... the same. All the couples that're getting married in 2011, each couple is special to Him, and He will definitely make each wedding a blessed wedding, a beautiful wedding. :) God's gentle promise, totally swept away all my worries.... and I know it so well, that He is GOOD.

In Matthews, he said "If God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you?"

His words.. are simply amazing... :) Such a sweet promise. I still remember, during one of our caregroup in Brisbane, Alvin said that somewhere in Psalms it says that God's words are like honey. And yes it really is !!

I will grab hold to His promise and confidently move forward because I know I am not doing it alone. :) Jesus has got my back covered. Quoting from Pastor Kenneth, Jesus is my rearguard. ;)
