U-Turn is Acts's annual prayer & fast before Good Friday. A time where we sacrifice something important to us, and use that extra effort and time to pray and seek God even more fervently.
This year, I'm praying personally for family's salvation, Anne's exam in July, a good friend's relationship with her boyfriend, financial provision and God's extra grace on upcoming wedding, my career path and Joshua's career path. ;) It's not a barter system but it just reminds me to continue to believe and continue to press on. Focus on the Maker of all things.. knowing that He makes things beautiful in His times. :)
I have done Facebook fast, one meal fast, Daniel fast in previous years. This year, I'm doing Facebook & coffee fast.
Why Facebook? I have the habit of doing into Facebook a few times everyday, more so when I'm at work. >.< Just to look at friend's interesting updates and photos, checking the "rsvp" of our upcoming wedding etc. I know it's not healthy and sometimes really cause me to have lesser time for quiet time.. and so I choose to fast it again. Temptations are so real, on 2nd day and 3rd day, I have people talking about certain video shared on Facebook that I wanted to check it out, I have Shin Yee telling me about Geuk Huey & Jong Yong's pre-wedding photo taken at Brisbane, which 1 candid photo was up on Facebook too. >.< I had to say, it's ok, I will check it out 3 weeks later. It's ok to be behind the news for 3 weeks, I can wait. :P
Why coffee? Because... I simply love coffee, esp. Nescafe 2 in 1. Many people said that's not genuine coffee, but that's the taste I like the best. :D Well, I thought I was forgo-ing my favourite drink, and was surprised to find out that I was... a little bit dependent on caffeine to stay focused!?!?!? I could drink coffee at night and still sleep soundly, and so it never appeared to me that caffeine affects my concentration during the day. On 1st day of our fasting, it's Sunday and we were at church by 7.30am to carry equipments into van and cars to travel 1.5 hour on highway to set up church at Nilai (our church plant). Usually the thing I look forward on such mornings is none other than coffee. Unfortunately I had to stick to plain water and try not to go near people with coffee in their hands. By 1pm, I found myself feeling dizzy and sort of floaty.. I went back home at about 3pm to rest. Next morning was a working Monday, I sat down in front of my PC, instead of sipping from my coffee mug, I was sipping from green tea mug. And there came the dizzy and floaty feeling again! Wow, caffeine really has some control over me? Of course I was tempted to give up fasting it, but Joshua said I shouldn't, so... here I am 4 days without coffee and I'm still sane! Praise God! :D
Little bonus : We celebrated Rose's birthday last night after YWA 2015 Party.. and her "cake" was Baskin Robbins ice cream. I'm not a big fan but eating with a bunch of close gal friends definitely worked up my appetite! We all digged in! They were saying oh half is peanut butter which I find it tooo creamy, another half is mocha & nut (I don't know the exact name sorry). I love the taste on the other half and so I kept going for it... yummm.. yumm.... first time I find ice cream so tasty... mmmm..... then Kam was talking to Ally that "ya coffee in ice cream"

I made the confession to all of them that I am actually on coffee fast.. and it just didn't cross my mind that mocha has caffeine! Yah.. they all "mocked" me saying that I was trying to find excuse, that I was a bad girl... but I know they love me.. :D :D And I know God has forgiven me.. at least once I found out it has caffeine in it, I stopped eating straight away.
That's a little caffeine bonus for me. Thank you Jesus. :P Hehe.
