As you know, Joshua and I have been running about planning for our house renovation. It's a really tiring process, because we are learning new things on every detail we zoomed in at. At the same time, we can't wait for the renovatin to start and see transformation takes place...
Our friend Jade told us there's a shop in Jalan Templer that sells reasonably priced bathroom wares, so we went on 18th Feb! Before heading towards Jalan Templer, we stopped by Floor Depot in Puchong to check out their offer and the available types of laminated flooring. We were told there will be a Modern Home Fair in Midvalley soon so we decided to wait till the Fair for their best price. At the bathroom wares shop called Han Lin, the selections of toilet bowls were mind blowing.. I was particular of the design, I want the whole bowl smooth without any dents where dirt could accumulate.... so we found 2, Orin and Servicite. RM580 and RM370. It's hard to decide because Servicite's toilet seat is all plastic... and I don't really trust the brand... we didn't buy that day, but I wrote down all the prices we saw. :)
We were told by our cousin that we should first decide on our flooring materials. So we've decided that most will be tiled flooring, except for the room downstairs and all of upstairs will be laminated flooring. For tiles, we have to choose for living room, bathroom floor, bathroom wall and kitchen floor.
On 3rd March (Saturday) we had a flat tyre incident... yeah my hero sped to meet me and helped to change tyre.

Sad to say, the tyre was in bad condition we had to replace with a new one. :( RM400 for a new tyre.
After that, we continue on with our plans! Joshua took me to this tiles shop in Taman Megah... we spent at least 3 hours there! Looking looking looking, which one is on discount, whether it's slippery when step on.. whether the colour can look clean and at same time cover dirt, whether all the colour matches each other.... la la la..

Was very very tired.. but happy that we're one more step closer to renovation. :) Took down all the tiles code, brand and colour.

On 9th March, Joshua finally found someone in MPSJ that could connect us to somone to draw our floor plan and assist us to obtain our renovation permit. Of course it's not free, it'll cost us RM1500 in total. So Josh paid 50% deposit, for the floor plan drawing. Yeay! Another step closer!! He made sure the floor plan could proceed the morning before he flew off to Bintulu for our church's Revo Tour. :)
11th March, Joshua was returning that evening. Before going to pick him up from airport, I went to a sales in Uptown and bought some bathroom accessories. 2 glass shelves, 2 toilet paper holder, 2 single towel hook, all for RM233. :D
The whole week from 12th March to 16th March, I was severly busy with our wedding photobook! The voucher expires on 15th March but I had problems uploading the file.. made a few calls, tried a few times, finally could upload the whole file and then just wait for the book to arrive. Phew! Multitasking is tough. At the same time, we met up with my cousin to discuss about the quotation given by the concrete & piping contractor. Then we were busy analysing the quotation, verify the area they put in their quotation by taking measurement at No. 73 and referring to floor plan, highlight the ones we think is too expensive.. finally sent the file to our cousin so that he can talk to the contractor to push their price down.
17th March, was the Modern Home Fair at Midvalley. We went of course.. we can't afford to miss it. :) Found Floor Depot and paid deposit for the 60% off package! Yeayyy!! We learnt so much from the Fair, looking at the furnitures, the stuffs they sell, doors, kitchen..
From 19 March to 23rd March the entire week, we were on mission to select our fridge! Why? Because the fridge will determine where our kitchen cabinet ends. We went to at least 5 electrical shops in Puchong & Taipan, browsing through the options... we prefer freezer at the bottom so our selections are limited to Panasonic brand with inverter power. There are a few sizes, so we chose the one with width of 26 inches. :) Ahh.. at last one variable FIXED. Since we're at electrical shops, we also looked at their hood & hob. We kind of need the measurement of the hood & hob because we need to cut the hole for it on our granite top. So we have to decide which brand to go for as well. One sales guy told us Fotile is good brand esp. for Asian cooking and the price is relatively lower. We did some online research and saw quite some positive feedback. Fotile.. maybe? Maybe.
24th March, we went to Ikea. Spent half a day there until 4pm, to design our wardrobe and kitchen cabinets. So glad with the outcome and they allow us to print out! That really makes things much easier for us. :)
Then we went to Puchong MSM to enquire about granite kitchen top.

We're going for black galaxy which looks something like the below picture.

And we have to decide on the finishing... we need to have exact measurement of sink and stove before we order our granite top. Yah.
Then we went to a shop in Taman Sea, spent an hour there looking at bathroom stuffs.. and finally brought home a small basin, a simple toilet paper holder and basin drainage and pipes... altogether RM197. Call it a day... yeah... so tired...
25th March, after church, we went to a shop in Subang, hoping to buy cheap toilet bowls. but ended up buying a Teka handheld shower, bigger than normal shower, RM280. :)
Moved on to ESH warehouse sales in glenmarie, we bought a 20L Sharp microwave for RM210. We think it's quite an important thing to have in a house and RM210 is quite affordable..... then... guess what my hero bought?
Sharp Aquos... LED.... 40 inches....

For RM1998. After calling us our friend Vijay who just purchased a TV.. this price is about RM300-RM400 cheaper than normal price. Yah.. Joshua named it SHARPY on our way home, set it up that night itself and our masterbedroom is now like a hotel room. Hahaha.. in fact better than hotel room. :P
We went to Houz Depot after visiting a lousy kitchen sales in Kota Damansara. In Houz Depot, we bought our Fotile hood & hob!! How come?? Because we found out the model Houz Depot offered, was not only RM200 cheaper, but is newer model!
This is what we saw at the electrical shop Hoe Huat in Taipan. Model EH11, for RM2299. Houz Depot offered EH13 for RM2098!

Our hood looks like this. :) Again, this is model EH11.

We feel like such grown ups buying these things with our own money, with our own credit card.. loading into our Myvi who miraculously could fit in all these. :) Our kitchen plan is getting closer! Now only left our sink! :D
Yes it was a tiring day.... very very tiring... We got home at around 8pm.. I made simple fried rice with leftover KFC chicken in fridge + tomatoes + cabbage. After dinner, I saw the Massimo bread Joshua bought... I've missed it for a week and now it's back...

I told Massimo how much I've missed it, roti canai and dossai in my office cafe cannot replace it...

yes... Massimo you're so important to me...

你知不知道~~~ 你知不知道~~~
It's 27th March now, we're still waiting for our cousin to revert on the quotation. We don't even know whether he's spoken to the contractors yet. We still have a lot to do, and haven't look into lighting, fans and air conditioning yet. There's really a lot to learn, and we feel really like adults! We used to hunt for dresses at cheap prices, but now we're looking for cheap toilet bowls, furnitures etc. It's a brand new phase and thank God for leading us to this path. Please continue keep us in prayers, that renovation will not be delayed, that God will provide supernaturally in terms of finance and the house will turn out beautiful and will be used to serve Him and His people. Amen! :D
