71 renovation progress week 2 !

30 April to 7 May 2012. Our contractors stopped working at our house for 1 week as they had to rush the completion of a particular project. So this week is more for us to plan what bathroom doors we plan to use, looking for the supplier, buying toilet bowls and basins.. getting our stuffs organised.. meeting up with window guy and electrician. Lots of agenda...

28 April Saturday, after a good breakfast, we visited Buimaco tile shop for 2 hours to confirm on our tiles selection for bathrooms, kitchen and living room.

Then we went to HanLim at Jalan Templer to buy toilet bowls and basin. We spent 3-4 hours there! It's very tiring... I felt I was going to faint... but I still tried my best to make the best decision... we ended up with 3 toilet bowls, all 3 different size and different brands.. and a simple basin 2 feet wide for masterbathroom. :) We brought everything back home with my faithful Myvi!!!

Yes everything could fit into Myvi, amazing isn't it? Our toilet bowls from left - Sericite, Orin and Johnson Suisse. :)  While the workers got ready our things, we went nearby for quick lunch, then come back to inspect the things one by one, piece by piece.. as if we know what we're doing.. the pipes, the fittings to the toilet bowls, the screws... pray that we didn't miss out anything. :)

We had to move the car seat to the front as much as possible in order to have sufficient space to fit in all our shoppings. So that's how Joshua drove home.. so narrow!

We planned to put all the toilet bowls at 73. That's our storage area for now. :) The minute we reach 73, our window guy has arrived. We discussed with them for about 30 minutes about the types of windows, the things we need to get ready before we get them in to measure the window... After they left, we managed to nap for 30 minutes in 73.. then the electrician came. Discussed about grounding, about location of air con units, number of extra power points, auto gate wiring..... etc... -___-

Then it was 7pm. Anne came back from Avengers movie outing.. she helped us unload everything from Myvi into 73. Then I arranged them while Joshua and Anne watched FRIENDS.. we were all tired..

29 April Sunday, Joshua was not on for worship, so we went home after 1st service. We saw the workers at 71 removing the parquet, we bought chicken rice and teh ais for them. Then we rest at 73, watching FRIENDS while having lunch... and I took time to snap pictures of our 3 toilet bowls and 3 basins. :) On the far let is toilet bowl A (Orin), for masterbathroom. Then toilet bowl B (Johnson Suisse( for shared bathroom.

Right next to it is toilet bowl C (Sericite) for back toilet. Followed by the respective basins.

On top is our kitchen sink. :) It's a present from our cousin brother.

Here, below the 2 overweight bears are our hood and hob. :)

1st May public holiday, we went to Houz Depot to confirm on the bi-fold door and sliding door we want to instal for our sharedbathroom. We wanted to place order but the worker there passed me another number to contact the supplier directly because they had some problems processing orders.. and will be cheaper to go straight to supplier. :) 

Here's the different options for the door, I've selected the white colour MF89. :D Called the supplier the following day and confirmed that they only need to come take measurement when our bathrooms are all set. 

After Houz Depot, we went to Puchong, a shop called Top Ten Lightings. We were overwhelmed by the crowd and also the amount of lights in the shop! We definitely need a few more trips to confirm on our choices of lights.

Look at the amount of ceiling lights... we're getting the one in the middle that looks like a milo tin can, for our kitchen because there're quite some beams in our kitchen thus the ceiling is not even. This kind of light might help to camouflage its flaws a bit.

 Downlightsssss... I though downlight should be easy but no.......... look at those..

And moree.......... The square ones are more pricy I don't know why. I prefer round ones. :) We were advised by cousin brother to get those without the lid, because we won't look straight at the light anyway, and without the lid it is much brighter. We've decided to only get 2 downlight with lids for the space above our bed, and the rest without lid. :)

More ceiling lights here, The middle round one is what we would love as our office light. However cousin brother said it not be suitable because the ceiling at our office area is concrete.. so we need to confirm with electrician or someone in the shop. We tried to look for some wall lights but I didn't find anything I like.... hope they have something good there next time. :)

Came back home from Top Ten, and our cousin brother came to inspect the house renovation progress. We've gotten his opinion on certain windows, whether to remain or replace. Conclusion, we're changing all the front windows but the back windows shall remain. Reason being, windows are still in good condition and we're ok if they're old fashion. Why we change the front windows because we're extending the front.

We spent the next few days drawing out some plans for the house, especially the extension areas and windows that needs to be replaced. We went back to 71 to measure and reconfirm on our plans, and photocopy the drawings, highlight the important measurement for contractor.... finally Joshua passed on the drawings to contractor this morning, and he has agreed that window guy can come this Saturday as the window holes will all be ready.

Last night, we met up with the pest control guy from NLC, quoted us RM3k for termite treatment with 5 years warranty. Hmm..... still thinking about it!



Todate, we have spent total RM10,600 on house stuffs, buying things here and there since March. We knew the tenant will move out end of March so we started looking out for sales, choosing the things we like etc..... it's so easy to spend RM10k. Here's the breakdown of the RM10k.

- RM3k on MPSJ permit

- RM2k on Sharp Aquos LCD 40 inches TV

- RM2k on Fotile hood & hob

- RM500 on Floor Depot deposit

- RM2.8k on bathroom stuffs (and we have not bought all the things we need..)

- RM200 on a microwave

And there're huge items like fridge, washing machine, awnings, auto gate, doors, windows.......... that we haven't bought.

It's a scary world out there.... I'm fearful.. because there really isn't sufficient funds in our pockets.. but hey God, you're able! You make things beautiful in the perfect timing! You take away the fear in us and give us confidence, confidence in the Lord!! We're waiting upon you. :) :) God has given us an idea to obtain some financial aid... we're still working at it.. hopefully we can seal the deal by end of this week! Pray for us! :) :)
