14th to 20th May. This is not a good week for me. :(
Ah Hoong didn't work on Monday but failed to inform us. Electrician Ah Loong turned up at the house and found out there was no one. Well.. sorry Ah Loong.
Tuesday, pest control came, did their thing and left. They drilled holes and injected chemicals into the ground.
When Joshua arrived they have left, so we're not sure when they'll ask for payment, we hope they don't come after us so soon. There were opinions that we shouldn't have done the termite treatment since there was no sign of termites at all. Reason why we still went ahead was we want to take precaution. We heard of people's roofs eaten by termites, it's freaky. Well, you ask me, I was 50% in regret on Wednesday morning while driving to work.. because we calculated the renovation cost and the amount is just mind blowing. I thought... we could've just sprayed some chemicals around the house. No sign of termites means no sign of termites.... now feels a bit dumb to have injected the "poison" to kill the ants that may not exist at all. SIGHHH....!! Joshua said we did the right thing, but 50% of me regret about this hasty decision. :( Sorry to myself.
Joshua met with electrician during lunch time, went through some drawings about where lights and fans shall be. Wednesday, I went back during lunch hour to check on the progress, noticed electrician has or almost done wrong thing. I panicked and decided to take half day off the next day to firm up the details with Ah Loong. Seriously, house renovation is no joke.
Joshua also called our window guy to confirm we're going with powder coated windows and green glass. Well, we were tossing between the powder coated white windows or normal silver windows for 2 days. Price is RM1k different, it's not a lot but to someone whose pocket is thinning, is quite a lot. Conclusion, we went with white. Ah Hoong told us from his experience, the silver one will discolour, but the white one is more durable. Base on that, and I really will prefer white windows, we decided to invest RM1k more on the front windows. Don't ask me about the funds... I don't dare to imagine...
I just remember I missed out something in my drawing about back of house to Ah Hoong. It's too late to change because it involves piping and concretes... so yes there you go, a mistake made by Joan Ng. Although not a major one, still, I'm quite mad at myself. Then Ah Hoong showed me a wall tap he prepared based on my drawing, I too realised my drawing was not accurate enough and the position was a little off. :S Worse he commented that I actually don't need so many taps for such a small toilet. :(
Many issues popped up. Ah Hoong complained that he could'nt proceed because our tangki needs to first be replaced, however he wants to charge us RM1600 just for that in which we're not agreeable. Our cousin is the key person to negotiate this with him. Also he made noise that our windows are too late, we only confirmed on Wednesday, it will take 1 week... sorry. He too mumbled that if we want to lay wiring for alarm system, the guy has to come in asap. Ok, so we just gave the alarm guy a call....... It's really not easy to coordinate house renovation. :S I feel my system is breaking down... Thank God for Joshua, he said we have to persevere......! I'll try.
I must mention about the front part of our house, this is what I saw when I went back during Wednesday lunch hour. My heart beated faster when I see the gate and the column being removed...
That night, after dinner, we went to 71 again, wanted to firm up some details about lighting. And saw this !!
They built it in 1 day! Can't believe it, it's time for us to order the gate already.. and getting the auto gate guy in..
When we enter the house we realised the main power supply has been disabled. :S And Joshua's iphone battery also went flat, we couldn't even use the flash light... so we went home.
Met Ah Loong at 8.30am on Thursday. I took half day off just so we confirm everything is well communicated.
Joshua was holding some letters that was in the old mailbox. :)
Joshua went to work at about 9.40am after discussion with Ah Loong. I stayed on to talk to Ah Hoong and waited for the alarm guy who came without informing me (I was resting at 73), took measurement and left! After we called him, he sent his worker back to 71 but the discussion draws no conclusion... -_-
By the way, look, they're plastering the column already. :)
Then just before I go to work after lunch, the column was completed! This super speed is really scaring me!
These are the electrical works in the house. The old wiring system has several short circuit problems and so we had to have a brand new wiring system. That explains the hacking and drilling on the walls. It's hard to describe, I feel my heart aches seeing such big holes in the wall. :(

Tangki. The box you see is the original tangki of this house, 30 years old. According to Ah Hoong it must be replaced. After my cousin bargained with him, we have managed to push the price from RM1600 to RM1200.
So Ah Hoong proceeded to removing the old tangki on Thursday. The brown stains on the wall are from the water in the tangki! Blekkkk! Horrible stuffs!!
This is the 30 year old tangki! Thank God we're changing it..

The new tangki sitting comfortably on the structure on Friday. :) By the way, this is my first time seeing the roof of the house. We were told old houses has more structures at the roof top, whereas new houses are just few pieces of thin wood.
They threw all the old tiles from living room here, thus making the floor level higher. Then fill up with sand and metal bars. Lastly, cover & seal everything with cement.
We saw it on Saturday morning. It's really nice! :D
Ah Hoong has discovered 4 areas in the house showing leaking problems. 3 of those are due to leaking from roof top. Joshua and him climbed up to roof top on Friday morning. They noticed this part of wall was not plastered by the developer!! Contributed to the leaking issues.

At the back part, some roof pieces needs to be replaced.. Ah Hoong is going to help us with those. All these are extra charges.... :( We need our cousin to finalise with Ah hoong on how to fix the 3 areas. These can be quite major work.
Saturday evening, we went back, while discussing some stuffs with Ah Hoong, we spotted one of his workers getting the kitchen wall ready. :) They did it like spreading kaya on bread.. haha. Once this wall is ready, it's time to get glass guy to come too... more people to handle!

The sand they used are still on the road. Our wired fences were removed temporarily. Ah Hoong fixed it up in the afternoon and our cousin is planning on arranging a steel fence for the back. :)

May God grant us peace.. just when so many things can go wrong.. and when we simply can't figure out how God will provide financially.. we have to pay Ah Hoong again this coming week... windows coming in on Wednesday.. alarm guy starting work, main entrance door and doorframe also coming.... there're quite some bills to cover. God, we trust you. :) May the coming week be better! :)
