Week 10. 25th June to 1st July.
Monday, Ah Hoong and crew started cementing the front of our house! We didn't go and check it out because the cement was not yet dry, if we step on it we might leave a foot print. :) Ah Hoong called at 7.30pm to ask us to spray some water on the flooring. I asked Anne to help. :)
Tuesday, today grill door and window glass are supposed to come in. So I went back during lunch. New cement flooring! :)
And new window glasses installed!
The window guy is quite nice, they came on time and even notified me at 4pm that the grill guy has not arrived. Yes, you are right, the grill guy has attitude problem. We don't like him, he's impatient and loud over the phone. He said he will instal the grill door in the late afternoon but he didn't turn up until 5.30pm. That's evening, mister. -___-
Anyway, grill guy did his job and left the key at 73's mailbox, to which Anne passed to me after prayer service that night. :) We only went to check out the door after prayer service. This is the grill door.
I asked him to paint it grey because this is the door we'll open at least twice everyday, I prefer it to be in a colour that can hide dirt, haha. Our cousin talked to the grill guy to give us the L angle, i.e. the additional metal piece that covers the part where both doors meet, that way the lock inside cannot be seen with the doors closed.
Oh, and the window guy actually pointed out to me that it looks wrong that the alarm wires were left outside.. we checked with our cousin, it is really supposed to be that way. Hmmmm..... the alarm guy said before anyone could cut the wire, the alarm would go off.. I can't really agree that this is good...
Earlier in the day, I called the granite guy and he replied me with a quotation, RM2450. According to my cousin, that's too expensive. The last he asked, is less than RM2k. We're going to their factory direct this Saturday to make the enquiry. May God's favour be upon us! :)
Wednesday, we met with Ah Hoong after work. He quoted us another RM6220 for the extra works he's done after the 1st round of RM48k quotation. The extras were - replacing new tangki (RM1200), repairing leaking roof (RM2300), extra piping at backyard, small part of wall tiles at kitchen, plastering walls and removal of windows in masterbedroom.. We tried to push his painting quotation down from RM4600 to RM3500, but he seemed really uneasy with the price starting with 3. Joshua gave in and said, 4k, to which he has agreed. :) We think 4k might still be high, but we're confident that Ah Hoong will do a good job. Plus he is really fast. He said he will start filling the walls, sandpaper etc this week itself. We need to get the paint codes to him asap.

The electricians came in to complete their wiring works too. :)
Cut off the old joints and rectify the wires that was stolen before.
I just love the white given by the base coat... really.. can I buy a pearl paint that's same colour as the base paint?
Friday, we didn't go to 71. :)
Saturday, we met Ah Hoong at 10am, he already took all the toilet bowls and basins over to 71. They're going to start fixing those in the bathrooms. :D
We bought a white or off white colour called Skylight last week. Today we returned to the shop to exchange some unwanted paint (protective coating and ceiling paint) for another white colour called Moonlight Sonata.
We also ended up getting a Savin Hills green paint for our feature wall, thinking of having a natural colour in the house. We bought 2 litres.
I alslo took some more samples back, to choose colour for the exterior walls and the staircase railing indoor.
Joshua was exhausted because we spend 99% of the 4 hours standing, looking up and analysing price & style & brightness. -_- But look at what we're bringing home! :)
Lights.. spent total RM630 there. Downlights, wall light, ceiling lights and a fluorescent light for dining area. We also bought a wall fan for the kitchen (RM195) and a ventiflation fan for masterbathroom (RM105).
It's lights for the whole of 71 !! This is a huge milestone!
The bulbs for downlights. :) And that white square thing.. not sure what they are, but they're very heavy.

Before dinner, we went back to 71 to check on the progress they made with the bathroom wares. Looks fine, we're still unhappy with the water pressure though...
We only arrived at 73 after dinner to do lights labelling at 9pm.
The sales person Ah Kuok suddenly called and said he left out the fluorescent light when he loaded the lights into our car. Oops. We initially had to go back to pick it up the next day but eventually he agreed to deliver to us at ss15. Praise God for the favour! But he only came at 10.30pm... which caused us to reach USJ house almost 11pm. So late.. but we're still very happy we managed to settle the lighting part. :) While we were buying lights, our cousin went to 71 to inspect on the progress, he noticed a gutter that was leaking, so asked Ah Hoong to fix for free. He agreed. Haha. According to our cousin, Ah Hoong seems quite generous lately.. well, I hope we're becoming friends rather than just contractor & client. :)
Sunday, after church, we went to visit a caregroup member who was hospitalised. Then we proceeded to 71 again, to do some simple labelling of where we want the bidet and toilet paper holder to be. :P
Frickled minded me thought a lotttt about this green we selected for the feature wall..... and decided not to use it. Sorry. :( That Ah Hoong was curious so he painted a little on the wall, he said this is Indian colour. Haha.... well I didn't think it look indian, only worry it might make that already dark corner, darker. :S So... current plan is just paint the white over.. I will fill this wall up with as many picture frames as possible. :) An idea gotten from a blog I read everyday about DIY at home.. hehehehe...
The day is not over yet, we went to Taipan to buy shower heater. Went to Hoe Huat first, no idea why we walked in because the last time we almost got cheated buying their old model hood, which was priced as current model. Anyway, we walked in and this pushy sales man almost forced us to buy on the spot. I was quite mad with him and walked out of the store. Went over to another shop just few shops away, called Onn King. We bought two alpha shower heater units at Onn King, we met a good salesman, funny and down to earth. :) Got us a 12 months instalment plan and additional 2 years warranty. We need to go for instalment as much as possible.. taking out so much cash is hurting our pockets...
No, the day is not yet over.. haha.. we had phone discussion over phone with cousin at about 10pm after our dinner, talked about different areas of the renovation that's still pending. Basically, he went to meet the granite guy on his own on Saturday without us, made them calculate the RM2450 he quoted us, the guy couldn't prove the calculation which means he simply gave us an amount. So he gave new quote RM2000. Then he said price will be RM1600 if we wait for their grade B stone that's coming in 2 weeks time. We decided to wait, but cousin said he will look around for other suppliers as this current granite guy is not able to provide a full piece for us. needs to join 2 pieces together which won't look nice.
Then about the windows, both window guy Ah Lek and Ah Hoong has been asking us why we didn't change the smaller bedroom windows and the kitchen windows to new ones. @.@ We are trying to exercise self control, it's never ending if we change all. -_- But it's tempting I must admit.
Next, about our main entrance, gate and fence... sounds like our gate & fence & main door won't come anytime soon. :(
I really want to move in already........... :) I wish things can move faster..

We were asked to buy wall taps for bathrooms, front porch and backyard...
we went to the hardware shop few times, went to another 2 to look for a particular 2 in 1 tap that the 1st shop did not sell. @.@ Then we realise the shop owner did not give us the tap cover to be fixed against the wall, which we decided to only go back another day because it was already 2pm and we still have a lot to cover for that day. One problem we discover after Ah Hoong fixed the tap & bidet in our masterbath, pressure is low. Sigh, fix a pump? That's another sum of money.....
It's a day packed with errands. We're suppose to buy paint too! I took some pain samples back... well... we just wanted white.. but there're so many whites. We were also picking a green or teal colour for our feature wall at dining area.

After all the painting and hardware shop running abouts, we're finally on to the next task, i.e. BUY LIGHTS. We went to Top Ten Lighting in Puchong. Spent 4 hours plus there.. only left at 7pm plus!

I truly adore the white room..... Ah Hoong said will paint the 2 small rooms with skylight and moonlight paint on Monday, then we will decide on the final colour for the whole house.
