These are the amount of polka dots you can find used in all of our pre-wedding projects.
Umbrella, sheets, shoes, tie, drum skin, ribbon, blouse.... believe it or not, some are not even planned. ;)
When it comes to our wedding decor, I tried to get some ideas from the internet and saw this.
I thought the polka dot pot looked nice and I could use recycle cans. I collected only about 6, small & large from a friend who owns a cafe. Then I wanted mine to be purple & white dot. Found this on google and tried to find wrapper like this.
Spent few months searching without fruits.. finally after consulted Michelle Ng & read some online guide, I tried designing it using Joshua's mac, in Adobe Illustrator. :) I then printed out in A4 sheets.. used double sided tape to finally dress up the cans. :)
Passed all to a friend who helped us with decor.
Talking about decor... I don't quite agree with the way she used the cans!
1 -Cans were used it in the chapel. The chapel was spacious and using these as decor made it looked really flat. :S I wanted them used it at the Food Hall, to place cutleries... but that didn't happen.
There must be some miscommunications or misunderstanding, because there were more than just the polka dot cans that were not according to what I want....
2 -For example, no fresh flowers used at all in chapel, ALL fresh flowers were placed in food hall. I think it's wrong emphasis! I'm not crazy about flowers but if money was spent on flowers, I would use 100% in chapel aisle which is the most important place, agree?
3 -My short aisle's decor, the most 7 rows. She only tied poms on alternate rows, which I think is really too sparse. I requested for every row to be decorated, I even have a picture as sample.
4 -I also requested for white cloth pinned to the floor on my aisle, wanted a white aisle but was told that it's impossible? I've seen people done that at their wedding?
5 -I asked for fresh flowers on my aisle decor and was also told that it's not do-able. I've also seen people made that flower decor the night before wedding day?
6 -Money was spent on buying candies as wedding favours which I have not decided on. We have about 20 candies left after the wedding.
7 -Some shiny beads were tied to my flower girl basket & paige boy pillow which I don't find it value-adding at all. Why waste time on such small items? How about the aisle?
8 -A unity candle decor which was too far from what I pictured was put up. I have to say I want it done differently in the most tactful way. -___-
If you ask me what I will do different in my wedding given another chance, I will get someone else to be in charge of decor la. :) Shin Wee would be the most ideal person, if only you work in KL Shin Wee! :P
So back to polka dot cans. :P
When everyone left the chapel and the team were cleaning up, I managed to get 1 can from them and put in all the under-used flowers. During the wedding portraits session, we managed to use as props in this shot. :)

I love it so much! In my heart I know these flowers could've been put to better use if they were used in the chapel decorations, so I was trying to maximise its usage. I love the arrangement I did and later on even took back to the hotel in the afternoon. I told Anne to bring it home but she forgot ..... -_- she left it in the hotel room. :( Well, to err is human. :) Mummy's favourite saying.
One day, I'm sure I will make polka dot cans again, to decorate our home. :) This time, I will be the decorator so no one will be disappointed. :P
