After 17 years :)

17 years ago, in 1994.............

I was 10,

Anne was 7,

mum was 48.

That year, we have our cousin sister Swee Lin (I call her Swee Lin Ji Ji) staying with us in Muar. She was a law student, during her study break, she came to work in my parent's law firm. Swee Lin Ji Ji signed herself up for personal portraits, which was very popular. She borrowed some stuffs from my mum, I believe some dresses, and some props from our living room. One of them was the TULIPS you saw in all the pictures. :)

When the photos were developed, mum was amazed how her tulips came out so alive in the pictures. So..... one day, mum brought all the ladies in the house - herself, Swee Lin Ji Ji, Anne and I to the park (Tanjung) for our very own personal portraits! :D Not just her tulips and her many roses, all artificial flowers, she also brought along 2 baskets, 1 made of rotan, 1 in purple, both seen in pictures. :D She filled the baskets with colourful hardcover children books and even put in a colourful basket ball! :D Can you spot the ball? Hehe.

I wish I have a time machine... :) This was the ONLY photography outing. Mum never organise another one, which made this one so special... Mum is so creative, so spontenous.. and she definitely love flowers! :) :)

After 17 years, this year, 2011. We still have the TULIPS flowers. :) I discovered a handful of them in SS15 house.

On 2nd July, Anne and I made them into a small bouquet for my ROM! :D I didn't want to buy fresh flowers just to look good while signing names on 2 pieces of paper... I was ready to go empty handed, maybe carry a nice handbag... but I had this sudden idea to carry these tulips. Afterall, I prefer to carry something meaningful... :)

So here goes!

I used double sided tape, and the green tape. ;)
[Double sided tape was purchased for another decoration DIY which I shall share once I get some good pictures of the DIY items hehehe. :D And the green tape was purchased because I wanted to do corsages myself but ended up entrusting it to Kamini. I'm glad I get to use the tape here. :D ]

The flowers were very old and the wires were sticking out at the bottom, it's not "real" to have grey wires at the bottom of the bouquet, so I wrapped each of them them carefully with the green tape.

Next, we arranged the flowers and used rubber bands to tie them together. Anne helped me out here because I couldn't seem to tie them up tight enough. Hehe. Anne's very good at it. ;)

Then, to dress it up with ribbon. :D I found this red ribbon in my collection. I can't find anything more suitable for the bouquet! It's like divine.. :D again :D We tied a knot on top of the bouquet and slowly go round and round till it reaches the end.

Oops, spill the beans here. It's actually a Body Shop ribbon. :P
2 years ago, my good friend Bala (by the way he's now in MIA mode -_-) came back from Sydney and because I bought him a t-shirt, he felt bad he didn't buy me anything he bought me a huge gift box from Body Shop. It was the strawberry series so was in red. There was also a scented candle which was used at our wedding registration table. Haha. :P Again, it's the meaning and the story behind them that counts. :)

The length of the ribbon was JUST NICE. I was amazed. We end it with a knot at the bottom of the bouquet and I used double sided tape to keep the ends of the ribbon in place.

TA DAAA!!! Don't smell it because it still has old plastic smell, I tried spraying perfume on it but didn't help. :P

I used it at our ROM on 7th July 2011 ! :D
Mum was shocked at the fact that I'm carrying this bouquet. She said that the flowers are sooo old why am I using it, she even spent RM7 to buy a small purple flower (just so I use something new) but it didn't match my dress and later on that flower became part of our registration table decor, haha.
After our ROM, mum said the flowers looked so good on me and on the table when we sign on the marriage certs. :) She said Anne should use this bouquet at her ROM too, haha!

I like how the bouquet stands out in our simple pastel outfits. ;)

Then!! I used the bouquet again at our Post-Wedding photos at Alor Setar's paddy field! :D :D
One of the leaves were broken when I took out from my luggage. :( I sticked it back with selofan tape and tried to face that side inward during the photoshoot. Hehe. Our photographer Shu Shan thought the bouquet was REAL !!
